A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Huntress Stabs Tamlin, Dies, and Comes Back Fae, Pt 4

Feyre faces her final deadly challenge, Under the Mountain, in A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, forcing her to make an impossible choice that changes her life forever. G-Rex, Dirty Skittles, and Nacho break down Feyre’s transformation, Tamlin’s growing red flags, Rhysand’s suspiciously compelling behavior, and the ending that sets the stage for A Court of Mist and Fury.

Spoiler Warning

Heads up, confessors: this is a SPOILER-HEAVY episode. We’re wrapping up our deep dive into A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, and Feyre’s final challenge, Under the Mountain, somehow involves murder, resurrection, seven High Fae, one very suspicious Rhysand moment, and Tamlin finally locating his balls approximately seven seconds too late.

If you haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses, turn back now because we are absolutely not holding shit back.

The Book
  • Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
  • Series: Book 1 of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series
  • Author: Sarah J. Maas
  • Spice / Heat: Mostly tension, vanilla romance, and an entire podcast panel demanding significantly more payoff
  • Tropes: Deadly trials, sacrifice, resurrection, magical bargains, morally gray fae, mysterious bonds, trauma connections, transformation, forbidden attraction, and one human woman continuing to do everyone else’s damn job
The Confession

Welcome back to the feral little sister of Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads.

We have officially reached the final chapter of our A Court of Thorns and Roses deep dive, and Feyre’s third challenge is exactly as horrifying as promised.

Three hooded figures.

Three lives.

And underneath the final hood?

Tamlin.

Feyre has to decide whether she can kill the man she came Under the Mountain to save. But she remembers something important: Tamlin’s heart is made of stone.

So she stabs him.

And it works.

Unfortunately, Amaretto has one last loophole up her evil little sleeve and decides that while Feyre technically fulfilled the bargain, she never promised when everyone would be released.

Then she proceeds to absolutely destroy Feyre.

And while Tamlin is apparently still tying his fucking shoes, Rhysand is the one repeatedly throwing himself at Amaretto, trying to protect Feyre, even though he knows he cannot win.

Feyre dies.

Tamlin finally gets up, kills Amaretto, and the seven High Fae give Feyre pieces of themselves to bring her back.

Except she doesn’t come back human.

Feyre is now High Fae.

And just when we think Sarah J. Maas might let everybody go home and process the approximately 47 years of therapy they now require, Feyre follows a mysterious tug to Rhysand.

They say goodbye.

He looks at her.

Something shocks the absolute shit out of him.

And then he disappears.

Excuse us?

Just the Tip

This week, Just the Tip has very little to do with actual spice because apparently Sarah J. Maas has decided we must earn that later.

Instead, we’re talking about survival, identity, trauma, and what happens when someone goes through something so massive that they cannot possibly return to the person they were before it happened.

Feyre entered the human world.

She leaves the High Fae.

But the physical transformation is only part of it.

She survived psychological torture, made impossible choices, killed to save others, died, and came back carrying pieces of seven powerful beings inside her.

The question going forward isn’t whether Feyre has changed.

It’s whether the relationships and life she fought so hard to return to still fit the person she has become.

What We Get Into
  • Feyre facing the horrifying third and final trial
  • Tamlin being revealed underneath the final hood
  • Feyre remembering his heart of stone
  • Amaretto finding one final loophole in the bargain
  • Rhysand repeatedly trying to protect Feyre
  • Tamlin finally killing Amaretto
  • Feyre dying and being resurrected as High Fae
  • The seven High Fae giving Feyre pieces of their power
  • Feyre following that mysterious tug back to Rhysand
  • Rhysand’s massive unexplained “oh shit” moment
  • G-Rex predicting trouble ahead for Feyre and Tamlin
  • The official ACOTAR Red Flag Report
  • Our final spice ratings and book reviews
Favorite Chaos Moments
  • G-Rex: “I’m a fae, but you know, I’m not dead.”
  • G-Rex: “Rhysand, he is 12 out of 10 flags because he’s a walking HR violation and, like, suspiciously compelling.”
  • Dirty Skittles: “He was tying his shoes or whatever the fuck he was doing.”
  • Dirty Skittles: “It’s just sweet vanilla lovemaking with a narcissistic liar. Fuck Tamlin.”
  • Nacho: “You are teasing, Skittles. You are teasing and you need to stop. We do not edge Gretchen.”
  • Nacho: “I’m not even putting a rating on this one because as far as I’m concerned, there’s no rating to be put on this.”
Our First Impressions

G-Rex finishes A Court of Thorns and Roses with 4 out of 5 stars. The beginning dragged for her, but once Feyre went Under the Mountain, she was locked in. Watching Feyre’s intelligence and survival instincts take over completely changed her experience of the book.

She also connects deeply with Feyre’s butch-leaning provider energy while simultaneously watching the story through the eyes of an older lesbian and mental health advocate—which means she spent a significant portion of this book wondering why a traumatized 19-year-old was sacrificing herself while several extremely powerful, emotionally constipated fae men made questionable decisions around her.

Dirty Skittles finishes the book deeply invested in where Feyre’s story is going, increasingly suspicious of everything happening between Feyre and Rhysand, and completely over Tamlin’s inability to communicate or act when it matters most.

Nacho refuses to give the spice a respectable rating because, in their world, reciprocal payoff matters. They are, however, completely here for Feyre’s evolution and extremely entertained by watching G-Rex unknowingly make predictions about what might happen next.

And then there’s the official G-Rex Red Flag Report:

  • Tamlin: 7/10 red flags — protective, secretive, controlling, and increasingly irritating

  • Rhysand: 12/10 red flags — walking HR violation and suspiciously compelling

  • Lucien: 4/10 red flags — mostly sarcasm, trauma, and questionable friendship choices

  • Feyre: 6/10 red flags — will absolutely run directly toward danger after being specifically told not to

Basically, everyone needs therapy.

Coming Up Next

We survived A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Barely.

But Feyre is no longer human, Tamlin is still sitting comfortably atop G-Rex’s red-flag leaderboard, Rhysand just had one hell of a mysterious reaction to Feyre, and there is still that tiny little matter of one week every month in the Night Court.

Next up, we’re diving into A Court of Mist and Fury.

G-Rex thinks Feyre and Tamlin’s relationship is about to get worse.

She thinks Feyre and Rhysand have more in common than either of them realizes.

And somehow, despite having no idea what is actually coming, she has already called Rhysand “suspiciously compelling.”

This should go well.

The huntress survived Under the Mountain.

Now we get to find out who the hell she becomes afterward.

00:00:01,635 --> 00:00:05,418
Welcome back to Paperback Confessions for the final chapter of

2
00:00:05,498 --> 00:00:09,057
our Court of Thorns and Roses deep dive. Feyre has

3
00:00:09,169 --> 00:00:13,000
survived 2 brutal challenges, but now she's staring down the

4
00:00:13,016 --> 00:00:16,863
3rd, and this one could cost her everything. One final

5
00:00:16,863 --> 00:00:20,358
test, one impossible choice, and with everything

6
00:00:20,454 --> 00:00:24,045
hanging in the balance, will Feyre survive Under the Mountain?

7
00:00:52,385 --> 00:00:56,062
If, if she can free Tamlin, out of

8
00:00:56,158 --> 00:00:59,710
rage Tamlin will kill Amaretto. And if Amaretto

9
00:00:59,855 --> 00:01:03,561
dies, they're all free. So Rhysand is kind of like, he's

10
00:01:03,561 --> 00:01:07,153
got this chain of events that he's hoping if he reveals to her

11
00:01:07,347 --> 00:01:10,855
will happen. And so when the 3rd mask is revealed to be

12
00:01:10,855 --> 00:01:14,273
Tamlin in the background, Rhysand sees it like, fuck,

13
00:01:15,856 --> 00:01:19,572
fuck, Feyre will never kill Tamlin, right? Like, that's the thought. Like,

14
00:01:19,588 --> 00:01:23,263
she's not going to kill this guy. But what was really

15
00:01:23,279 --> 00:01:27,083
interesting is that she remembered the references to the his

16
00:01:27,164 --> 00:01:30,262
heart— he has a heart of stone. And so

17
00:01:31,424 --> 00:01:34,958
even all the shame and the guilt of,

18
00:01:35,716 --> 00:01:38,461
of having to do this, she, she stabs him.

19
00:01:40,301 --> 00:01:43,982
And, um, she believed that by

20
00:01:44,030 --> 00:01:47,699
stabbing him, he wouldn't die. And it

21
00:01:47,747 --> 00:01:51,449
worked. Right, because she remembers, I'm gonna hit him in the heart,

22
00:01:51,466 --> 00:01:54,053
but it's going to be made of stone, and he'll be able to recover with

23
00:01:54,053 --> 00:01:57,413
his fairy magic. But to Amaretto's

24
00:01:57,765 --> 00:02:01,450
disappointment, fuck, Feyre actually did it because

25
00:02:01,450 --> 00:02:05,215
Amaretto didn't think she was going to do it either. And that lights her

26
00:02:05,215 --> 00:02:08,372
on fire because now that means by the deal,

27
00:02:09,782 --> 00:02:13,451
every— like, he's free, the people of the Spring Court are free. And

28
00:02:13,451 --> 00:02:16,992
Amaretto was like, oh no, I never said when though. I never

29
00:02:17,136 --> 00:02:20,645
said when. And then this dumb fucking

30
00:02:20,677 --> 00:02:23,929
psychopathic crazy Amaretto bitch

31
00:02:24,859 --> 00:02:28,069
Fucking breaks, breaks Feyre. Like,

32
00:02:28,165 --> 00:02:31,840
fucking does shit to her. Like, this girl got an

33
00:02:32,209 --> 00:02:35,852
ass beating like nobody's business. Yep.

34
00:02:36,960 --> 00:02:40,571
Yeah. But I— what I loved is like

35
00:02:40,635 --> 00:02:44,117
how Tamlin, after that happened,

36
00:02:44,246 --> 00:02:48,001
he like fucked Amaretto up. But it took him some time.

37
00:02:48,498 --> 00:02:50,569
Yeah, it did, because he was healing slowly.

38
00:02:52,411 --> 00:02:56,258
So while he was healing and unable to— Allegedly. Uh-huh.

39
00:02:56,966 --> 00:03:00,737
While he was healing and unable to, to defend and protect

40
00:03:00,769 --> 00:03:03,816
Feyre, who is the only

41
00:03:04,481 --> 00:03:07,900
person who tried to protect her and defend her?

42
00:03:10,827 --> 00:03:14,481
Rhysand. Rhysand, yes. I was gonna say, I'm not answering this question.

43
00:03:14,901 --> 00:03:17,439
It's Rhysand. And it's so like, that's

44
00:03:18,618 --> 00:03:22,420
Just like, I can see it as a movie in my mind. He's

45
00:03:22,420 --> 00:03:26,142
the one screaming her name out as she's basically getting killed

46
00:03:26,174 --> 00:03:29,848
by Amaretto. He's the one— he knows he's not strong enough to defend her.

47
00:03:29,928 --> 00:03:33,265
He needs Tamlin to get the fuck up and do what he needs to do.

48
00:03:33,794 --> 00:03:37,596
But despite all of that, if she's gonna die, I'm gonna die

49
00:03:37,644 --> 00:03:41,221
defending her. And so he keeps going after Amaretto, and she is

50
00:03:41,318 --> 00:03:45,010
just like picking him up like a ragdoll and tossing him aside. And he gets

51
00:03:45,010 --> 00:03:47,250
up again and gets up again, and he's trying

52
00:03:48,087 --> 00:03:50,794
continuously to get

53
00:03:51,696 --> 00:03:54,563
Amaretto out of the way and like fight for Feyre.

54
00:03:56,648 --> 00:03:59,134
Yes. Feyre gets her neck snapped and is

55
00:04:00,280 --> 00:04:03,363
dead, essentially, right? She's dead. Essentially dead.

56
00:04:05,122 --> 00:04:08,748
As she is dying, what she sees is she's basically falling

57
00:04:08,814 --> 00:04:12,542
into this pit of nothingness. And she can kind of

58
00:04:12,542 --> 00:04:15,414
hear voices in the distance, but she's falling. She's dying.

59
00:04:16,794 --> 00:04:20,212
And in her dying, the only thing that kind of like

60
00:04:20,982 --> 00:04:24,047
keeps her from completely disappearing into black

61
00:04:25,218 --> 00:04:28,941
is she feels a tug on like a little rope, like a pull.

62
00:04:29,422 --> 00:04:33,080
Mm-hmm. And then that's when, by this point,

63
00:04:33,096 --> 00:04:36,129
Talon stood up. God bless his heart. He was tying his shoes or whatever the

64
00:04:36,129 --> 00:04:39,482
fuck he was doing. He's now up. And hell

65
00:04:39,754 --> 00:04:43,330
breaks loose. The rage is free. He fucking

66
00:04:43,506 --> 00:04:47,355
kills Amaretto finally. Yeah, he like rips her

67
00:04:47,355 --> 00:04:50,706
fucking neck off. Yeah. Like blood spurting

68
00:04:50,802 --> 00:04:54,345
everywhere. He is like pissed. But like, where the

69
00:04:54,345 --> 00:04:58,162
fuck was that dude like challenge 1, 1

70
00:04:58,194 --> 00:05:01,529
and 2? 7 seconds ago. Yeah, like fucking literally

71
00:05:02,282 --> 00:05:05,650
before she got her neck snapped. Where was he? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like what, what

72
00:05:05,650 --> 00:05:09,245
the fuck, bitch? Like, yeah, if you're gonna— if you say or

73
00:05:09,245 --> 00:05:12,199
claim to be in love with her, I don't know, find your balls.

74
00:05:12,954 --> 00:05:16,294
Yeah. And then he sees Feyre, he picks her up, he's crying, she's in his

75
00:05:16,406 --> 00:05:19,858
arms. Oh my God, Feyre, oh my God. And all of a

76
00:05:19,874 --> 00:05:23,455
sudden, all of the High

77
00:05:23,455 --> 00:05:27,244
Fae males come and they give a piece of

78
00:05:27,244 --> 00:05:30,937
themselves to her to bring her back to life, which is like a super rare

79
00:05:30,937 --> 00:05:34,582
occurrence, but So when you posted that in our group chat,

80
00:05:35,192 --> 00:05:38,628
and I remember Nacho saying this, I immediately hate this,

81
00:05:39,190 --> 00:05:42,450
that. And I, I was laughing when you read that. I was like, yeah, I

82
00:05:42,562 --> 00:05:46,079
can, I can get it. I, I can get behind that because it should have

83
00:05:46,111 --> 00:05:49,162
never gotten to that point, right? Like,

84
00:05:49,724 --> 00:05:52,742
Tamlin— Foreshadowing.

85
00:05:53,577 --> 00:05:57,190
Tamlin should have been, been taking care of her even prior to

86
00:05:57,190 --> 00:06:00,097
that. Like, Tamlin should have grown a set of fucking balls

87
00:06:01,125 --> 00:06:04,851
and taken Amaretto out before challenge 1 even

88
00:06:05,124 --> 00:06:08,818
happened. Let me ask you a question, G. Yes. And Nacho, keep it to

89
00:06:08,818 --> 00:06:12,448
yourself. Heard. G, in that

90
00:06:12,448 --> 00:06:16,094
moment where these, these high male,

91
00:06:16,383 --> 00:06:19,756
high fae are going to turn this human into a fae,

92
00:06:20,142 --> 00:06:23,483
they're giving a part of themselves, their essence, to this human.

93
00:06:24,092 --> 00:06:27,763
Do you think they do it because Tamlin is so hurt and

94
00:06:27,779 --> 00:06:31,483
destroyed and crying? And Tamlin, this High Fae of the Spring

95
00:06:31,531 --> 00:06:35,314
Court, like, they see him in that moment just broken, and so

96
00:06:35,378 --> 00:06:38,536
they're like, all right, let me do this. I don't think it was because of

97
00:06:38,584 --> 00:06:42,240
him. I think it was because they saw her as a

98
00:06:42,352 --> 00:06:44,821
very strong and capable woman

99
00:06:46,039 --> 00:06:49,261
that could help, help the courts out.

100
00:06:50,048 --> 00:06:53,599
The spring court, the night court, you know, because she already did that.

101
00:06:54,065 --> 00:06:57,102
Yeah, she already did that. She already

102
00:06:57,681 --> 00:07:01,360
handled all the shit and was a facilitator of killing

103
00:07:01,457 --> 00:07:05,249
Amarantha. And so now they're paying, paying bitches back.

104
00:07:05,474 --> 00:07:08,398
They're paying it forward. You said to shut up and I couldn't handle it. You

105
00:07:08,527 --> 00:07:11,917
know, that's not what I thought you were gonna say, so you're fine to say.

106
00:07:12,624 --> 00:07:16,303
Yeah, I honestly think that they did it. Because

107
00:07:16,560 --> 00:07:20,237
she helped save them. She was

108
00:07:20,333 --> 00:07:24,171
the one who showed up with being brave and,

109
00:07:24,684 --> 00:07:27,783
you know, courageous. And as scrawny and weak— They all

110
00:07:27,960 --> 00:07:31,428
benefited. Yeah, they all benefited from her. They were paying it

111
00:07:31,428 --> 00:07:35,121
forward. She did this for us, we're gonna do this for her. She doesn't

112
00:07:35,121 --> 00:07:38,943
deserve to die because— yeah. Well, it happens

113
00:07:39,039 --> 00:07:42,491
very rarely, so I'll let that sit.

114
00:07:43,070 --> 00:07:46,731
We'll talk about that next book. But, um, after that

115
00:07:46,747 --> 00:07:50,521
happens, Feyre comes back to life as a fae,

116
00:07:50,601 --> 00:07:54,439
as a fairy. Yeah. And looks like a High Fae to boot because

117
00:07:54,632 --> 00:07:58,181
7 High Fae gave her a part of them. So she's more than just a

118
00:07:58,229 --> 00:08:01,955
regular fairy, she's like a High Fairy, also a

119
00:08:01,955 --> 00:08:05,600
human that got brought back to life. So she's tough shit. Go ahead.

120
00:08:05,696 --> 00:08:09,148
And is that when all their masks came off too? Yes, they could

121
00:08:09,164 --> 00:08:12,486
finally take off their masks. Was it then, or did they

122
00:08:12,935 --> 00:08:15,856
take off their— their masks fell when she stabbed him?

123
00:08:17,252 --> 00:08:20,269
Um, I— because that's when she breaks—

124
00:08:20,959 --> 00:08:23,670
well, she— do you remember there's like a scene where she's like, wait, why aren't

125
00:08:23,670 --> 00:08:27,377
their masks off? And that was when Amarantha was like, why? I never

126
00:08:27,377 --> 00:08:31,052
said when. Oh, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And

127
00:08:31,132 --> 00:08:34,807
I— but I think it's when he like ripped her fucking neck out, then

128
00:08:34,919 --> 00:08:38,739
Lucian's mask Tamlin was able to take off his mask, 'cause when

129
00:08:38,916 --> 00:08:41,759
she opens her eyes, she sees Tamlin, like, oh,

130
00:08:42,890 --> 00:08:46,507
look at him. Yeah, yeah. Okay, you right. What I got here, Fabio? You right,

131
00:08:46,523 --> 00:08:50,154
you right. Um, so all that goes down.

132
00:08:50,219 --> 00:08:53,722
She's now high fae, and what does that mean for her? She's— everything

133
00:08:53,979 --> 00:08:57,740
she immediately notices is brighter and louder, and her senses are

134
00:08:58,193 --> 00:09:01,967
basically on crack, and she is like, holy

135
00:09:01,999 --> 00:09:05,761
shit. So immediately she knows she's different. Yeah.

136
00:09:05,842 --> 00:09:08,311
Um, looks different, feels different, all that.

137
00:09:10,137 --> 00:09:12,622
Then there is a scene—

138
00:09:14,574 --> 00:09:18,059
this all happens under the mountain. They're ready to go home, which home for her

139
00:09:18,059 --> 00:09:21,822
is now Spring Court. She's gonna go home with Tamlin. She's got her man finally.

140
00:09:22,178 --> 00:09:24,732
Let's get home. But before she leaves,

141
00:09:26,445 --> 00:09:29,290
she feels a tug again. Something is pulling her somewhere.

142
00:09:36,308 --> 00:09:36,485
Oh,

143
00:09:42,885 --> 00:09:46,488
this just, this just pours into my soul,

144
00:09:47,183 --> 00:09:50,707
that part of me that like requires the main

145
00:09:51,143 --> 00:09:54,931
character, the, the person, male or

146
00:09:54,931 --> 00:09:58,670
female, that is the one that goes through the struggle. This

147
00:09:58,783 --> 00:10:01,268
just— You don't even

148
00:10:01,380 --> 00:10:04,284
understand, G, how—

149
00:10:05,311 --> 00:10:09,017
go ahead. I'm

150
00:10:09,113 --> 00:10:10,605
so sorry, Skittles. Like

151
00:10:11,824 --> 00:10:15,145
foreshadowing. She feels this pull,

152
00:10:15,755 --> 00:10:18,611
this tug, and she knows

153
00:10:19,766 --> 00:10:22,862
to follow it, but she has a pretty good idea of where it leads.

154
00:10:23,536 --> 00:10:27,306
So she follows the pull, she follows the tug. And it leads

155
00:10:27,306 --> 00:10:30,898
her to like this balcony, um, on the side of the

156
00:10:30,898 --> 00:10:33,929
mountain, and there waiting for her is Rhysand.

157
00:10:34,827 --> 00:10:37,922
And he's free, just like all of the other High Fae, to go back home.

158
00:10:39,398 --> 00:10:42,749
Now mind you, this shit— he had been under this mountain

159
00:10:42,846 --> 00:10:46,149
for years and decades and decades. So he

160
00:10:46,149 --> 00:10:49,774
finally gets to go home. Mmm. But before he

161
00:10:49,822 --> 00:10:53,373
leaves, he basically I think he's, he's trying to thank her,

162
00:10:54,022 --> 00:10:57,448
you know? Yeah. And kind of feeling her out, like,

163
00:10:58,000 --> 00:11:01,449
you know, are you gonna be okay? Um, because it's a goodbye.

164
00:11:03,251 --> 00:11:06,821
And she's, I think, goes, well, you know, I'll see you again. Like,

165
00:11:07,111 --> 00:11:10,379
we still got this deal, one week every month. And he's just like, yeah, you

166
00:11:10,379 --> 00:11:13,774
know, I'll see you again. And before he disappears into

167
00:11:13,839 --> 00:11:16,812
darkness, she sees on his face that something

168
00:11:17,859 --> 00:11:21,228
Has shocked him. Like something is has happened, and

169
00:11:21,808 --> 00:11:24,951
he's like, "Oh shit!" Like there's an oh shit moment look on his face, and

170
00:11:24,951 --> 00:11:27,619
he's staring at her, and she's like, "What the fuck is going on?" And he

171
00:11:27,619 --> 00:11:27,815
disappears.

172
00:11:31,622 --> 00:11:35,108
And it's a pretty pivotal scene because we don't know

173
00:11:35,269 --> 00:11:38,916
what he felt, saw, thought, heard nothing. I know. You

174
00:11:38,916 --> 00:11:42,719
just know he's gone. And

175
00:11:43,152 --> 00:11:46,900
she goes back to the spring court with Hamlin. But do you

176
00:11:46,900 --> 00:11:50,328
think it's because, like, she— that was

177
00:11:50,441 --> 00:11:52,625
beautiful. Did that taste like chocolate?

178
00:11:53,909 --> 00:11:57,620
Good. Um, because what,

179
00:11:57,766 --> 00:12:01,445
what I— I'm just sorry, it tasted like shit.

180
00:12:02,120 --> 00:12:05,621
Chocolatey shit. Uh, but what I think what, what he

181
00:12:05,766 --> 00:12:07,976
saw is that she

182
00:12:09,315 --> 00:12:13,131
maybe developed some feelings for Rosanne. And

183
00:12:13,195 --> 00:12:16,854
that she maybe still wanted to do that one

184
00:12:17,031 --> 00:12:20,498
week with him as promised because he saved her fucking life,

185
00:12:20,722 --> 00:12:24,462
literally. Yeah. Like, if he hadn't come around, she would

186
00:12:24,510 --> 00:12:28,041
have— Multiple times he saved her life and she

187
00:12:28,041 --> 00:12:31,636
knows it. Yeah. I don't know how many times at this point,

188
00:12:31,652 --> 00:12:35,295
but we know that many times. Next book you find

189
00:12:35,343 --> 00:12:38,361
out a little bit more, but Um,

190
00:12:39,742 --> 00:12:43,451
yeah, I think there's like that connection now, you know. They're trauma bonded. They've gone

191
00:12:43,451 --> 00:12:47,176
through this really horrible thing. And I do, I, I do think she is like,

192
00:12:47,224 --> 00:12:49,841
hey, don't worry, like, we'll see each other again, like, it's gonna be okay. Yeah,

193
00:12:49,874 --> 00:12:53,711
I think she's also developed another— what she sees at

194
00:12:53,711 --> 00:12:57,500
this point as a friendship, like she has with Lucien. Like,

195
00:12:57,661 --> 00:13:01,209
this has grown a bond with these 2 people, these 2

196
00:13:02,301 --> 00:13:05,967
other beings. I was gonna say, I think she realizes too, like,

197
00:13:06,016 --> 00:13:09,861
this bond is a little bit different because she can feel him pulling and tugging

198
00:13:09,958 --> 00:13:13,710
her. So I think she knows there's something else here, like,

199
00:13:13,759 --> 00:13:17,343
this is different. She writes it off that it's her, it's the tattoo. Yeah,

200
00:13:17,911 --> 00:13:20,503
the, the bargain, the deal, it's part of it. Yeah,

201
00:13:22,415 --> 00:13:26,013
but I also, like, think that she's, like, thinking in her head

202
00:13:26,045 --> 00:13:29,821
because, you know, like we said, Rhysand can, like, read minds and stuff like

203
00:13:29,821 --> 00:13:33,528
that. That even she felt the

204
00:13:33,802 --> 00:13:37,347
push me, pull me from Jesus Christ.

205
00:13:37,766 --> 00:13:41,283
She felt she felt.

206
00:13:47,268 --> 00:13:50,923
No, I love that you haven't read the second book, but

207
00:13:50,923 --> 00:13:54,711
like I wasn't as insightful as you on this first read. Like I

208
00:13:54,727 --> 00:13:58,490
just wasn't. So like you're so. Well, I, I think

209
00:13:58,490 --> 00:14:02,230
that the thing too is like, you know, with Tamlin, she felt like

210
00:14:02,359 --> 00:14:06,181
the total like push me, pull me, push me, pull me, right? Like

211
00:14:07,218 --> 00:14:10,895
he, he would— I don't, I

212
00:14:10,895 --> 00:14:13,633
don't quite know how to say it because maybe I've had a little too much

213
00:14:13,633 --> 00:14:17,450
to drink, but whatever. I, I feel

214
00:14:17,450 --> 00:14:20,021
like she has more of like—

215
00:14:21,299 --> 00:14:24,889
God, I, I kind of just want to like dive into this and and see

216
00:14:25,017 --> 00:14:27,552
what it, what it brings, right? I,

217
00:14:29,028 --> 00:14:31,610
I don't really want you to go. I don't want you to go back to

218
00:14:31,610 --> 00:14:35,460
the Night Court. Let you know, I'm— I got

219
00:14:35,460 --> 00:14:39,230
this motherfucker who's like so like push me, pull

220
00:14:39,230 --> 00:14:42,021
me, push me, pull me. I want you, I don't want you. I'm a fucking

221
00:14:42,021 --> 00:14:45,454
big pussy. I'm gonna sit next to Amaretto and not do a motherfucking thing

222
00:14:45,551 --> 00:14:49,192
while she's ripping you to shreds. In the meantime, Rosanne is

223
00:14:49,256 --> 00:14:52,413
like, oh wow, how can I help her, you know? I kind of like this

224
00:14:52,413 --> 00:14:56,037
girl. She's hot, she's scrawny, she's a little butch. Maybe she'd

225
00:14:56,053 --> 00:14:59,644
like top me in bed. But like, that's like what I

226
00:14:59,774 --> 00:15:03,414
got out of it is like, that's why he

227
00:15:03,479 --> 00:15:07,167
had that, that look on his face is because he read that.

228
00:15:07,297 --> 00:15:10,979
And no, I have not read the second book because I followed the instructions

229
00:15:10,995 --> 00:15:14,794
that my smut moms told me not to read the second book. Because

230
00:15:14,794 --> 00:15:17,918
you're gonna be hooked. You're not gonna fall asleep. You're gonna— it's gonna— She's already

231
00:15:17,934 --> 00:15:21,372
hooked. Would you say G? That

232
00:15:21,804 --> 00:15:25,330
they have more in common than what they originally thought.

233
00:15:26,211 --> 00:15:30,009
I think so. Yes, I think, I think they do. Like, they

234
00:15:30,442 --> 00:15:34,239
have— You are teasing, Skittles. You are teasing and

235
00:15:34,239 --> 00:15:37,957
you need to stop. We do not edge Gretchen.

236
00:15:38,694 --> 00:15:42,412
Oh my God, am I edging? I'm totally edging right now. You're

237
00:15:42,476 --> 00:15:45,969
edging Gretchen and we don't edge Gretchen.

238
00:15:46,627 --> 00:15:49,532
Wait until we get to Quicksilver and then you can edge me.

239
00:15:50,479 --> 00:15:54,155
We want to hear your emotions because your whole take on

240
00:15:54,171 --> 00:15:57,975
this book, uh, just even on Feyre, just

241
00:15:58,280 --> 00:16:02,100
your take on Feyre alone, well, like, it was so left

242
00:16:02,132 --> 00:16:05,728
field for me. It was beautiful. Well, you know, like I

243
00:16:05,728 --> 00:16:09,163
said, you know, I'm, I'm older than both of you. I'm a lesbian.

244
00:16:10,302 --> 00:16:14,026
And I also have like a little mental health advocacy

245
00:16:14,026 --> 00:16:17,509
kind of going into this. So I see, I see the whole person.

246
00:16:18,906 --> 00:16:22,584
But dude, Tamlin is still a fucking dick. I,

247
00:16:22,681 --> 00:16:26,230
I'm telling you, he had plenty of chances sitting next to

248
00:16:26,358 --> 00:16:30,101
Amaretto to quit being a fucking pussy. I don't care if your powers got taken

249
00:16:30,133 --> 00:16:33,923
away, you're still a fucking man. Be a man, protect your

250
00:16:33,923 --> 00:16:37,649
woman. That's how it's supposed to be. But don't be a dick.

251
00:16:38,243 --> 00:16:42,017
Okay, okay, final to wrap us up, to wrap up. Okay, go ahead. All

252
00:16:42,017 --> 00:16:45,555
right, go ahead. Predictions on the

253
00:16:45,555 --> 00:16:48,225
second— the next book, do you think

254
00:16:48,756 --> 00:16:50,413
Feyre will

255
00:16:53,035 --> 00:16:56,885
continue to become the G.I. Jane badass character,

256
00:16:57,143 --> 00:17:00,835
or do you think now that she's fae will

257
00:17:00,851 --> 00:17:04,506
be completely different? No, I think that those— I think

258
00:17:04,554 --> 00:17:08,253
some of those traits will still come through because I don't think that

259
00:17:08,253 --> 00:17:11,881
just because you change bodily appearance changes

260
00:17:12,394 --> 00:17:15,941
what you're— what's true to you, right?

261
00:17:16,952 --> 00:17:20,466
Um, I'm true to myself because I can take care of

262
00:17:20,514 --> 00:17:23,419
myself. I can hunt for myself. I,

263
00:17:24,349 --> 00:17:27,270
I don't really need a man, but yes, I need sex because you know what,

264
00:17:27,478 --> 00:17:31,137
I'm a fae, but you know, I'm not dead. And

265
00:17:31,490 --> 00:17:34,828
I suppose— Not that zombie dick. She's not— there's no zombie dicks.

266
00:17:35,743 --> 00:17:39,065
But like, I— what I think is that I

267
00:17:39,690 --> 00:17:41,269
can't with the fucking tube radio.

268
00:17:45,766 --> 00:17:49,448
Also, God, it's like dust in my mind right now. But what I think is

269
00:17:49,561 --> 00:17:53,098
that she will go back to her

270
00:17:53,098 --> 00:17:56,582
roots. Okay. Oh my God, I broke Nacho. Do you think,

271
00:17:57,466 --> 00:18:00,905
do you think her and Tamlin's relationship will

272
00:18:00,922 --> 00:18:04,309
change for the better or for the worse? I think

273
00:18:04,550 --> 00:18:07,927
her and Tamlin's relationship change for the worse

274
00:18:08,071 --> 00:18:11,780
because he becomes even more pussified. All right, I

275
00:18:11,780 --> 00:18:15,056
think— I just think he's a big fucking pussy. And like,

276
00:18:15,682 --> 00:18:19,374
my red flag report on this is like, Tamlin— What are

277
00:18:19,374 --> 00:18:23,212
your red flags thus far? Give me 3 red flags.

278
00:18:23,388 --> 00:18:26,616
Can I give you 4? I'm gonna just give you my report. So

279
00:18:26,616 --> 00:18:30,405
Tamlin is 7 out of 10 red flags, and the reason

280
00:18:30,405 --> 00:18:33,466
I said that is Because he's protective, secretive,

281
00:18:34,197 --> 00:18:38,003
and he's controlling, and he has these

282
00:18:38,342 --> 00:18:41,789
tendencies that just kind of piss me off. And then Rhysand,

283
00:18:42,369 --> 00:18:46,139
he is 12 out of 10 flags because he's a

284
00:18:46,140 --> 00:18:49,216
walking HR violation and like suspiciously

285
00:18:49,491 --> 00:18:53,249
compelling. Lucien is

286
00:18:53,282 --> 00:18:56,821
like 4 out of 10. He's mostly sarcasm and trauma

287
00:18:56,821 --> 00:19:00,424
and Like questionable friendship choices. I swear to God, him and

288
00:19:00,473 --> 00:19:04,021
Tamlin behind closed doors. And then Feyre is—

289
00:19:04,021 --> 00:19:07,586
she's like 6 out of 10. I mean, would— would she— would

290
00:19:07,682 --> 00:19:11,391
absolutely run directly toward danger after being specifically

291
00:19:11,455 --> 00:19:15,132
told not to do. I mean, I, I kind of get

292
00:19:15,148 --> 00:19:18,536
her, right? Like, I, I know that my wife Lisa the

293
00:19:18,536 --> 00:19:22,358
Lesbian is like, you know, always telling me like not to do these

294
00:19:22,390 --> 00:19:25,966
things. And I'd be like, yeah, but I fucking kind of want to. So,

295
00:19:26,743 --> 00:19:29,335
but those, those are my red flags of just,

296
00:19:31,898 --> 00:19:33,839
just the book. But the book as a whole,

297
00:19:36,465 --> 00:19:39,957
it's not super spicy, but it gets us ready for like the

298
00:19:39,957 --> 00:19:43,773
next 5 books. Um, I

299
00:19:43,773 --> 00:19:47,602
forgot something. Would I recommend

300
00:19:47,602 --> 00:19:51,152
this to people? Yes, if you want it, but you like—

301
00:19:51,168 --> 00:19:54,360
this is like the backstory to everything else that

302
00:19:54,393 --> 00:19:57,955
happens. And once I realized that, then I was able to power

303
00:19:57,955 --> 00:20:01,798
through because, you know, my smut moms here were like,

304
00:20:01,878 --> 00:20:05,511
just keep going. I would tell you guys where I was and you're like, yeah,

305
00:20:05,560 --> 00:20:07,936
you've got a lot to go. But yeah, um,

306
00:20:09,664 --> 00:20:12,858
as far as like what my rating is for the book

307
00:20:18,288 --> 00:20:21,839
It— there's a tiny bit of spice. Oh yeah. But you have to fuck—

308
00:20:22,226 --> 00:20:25,374
you have to read way the fuck into it. Full-on Halo

309
00:20:25,761 --> 00:20:29,182
spice. There's just— it's just sweet vanilla

310
00:20:30,223 --> 00:20:32,630
lovemaking with a narcissistic liar.

311
00:20:35,693 --> 00:20:39,202
Fuck Tamlin. I'm not even putting a rating on this one

312
00:20:39,315 --> 00:20:42,677
because as far as I'm concerned, there's no rating to be put on this. I—

313
00:20:42,693 --> 00:20:45,745
there's— is there negative when it comes to the

314
00:20:46,708 --> 00:20:50,467
rating system? That's it. Yeah, it's not a smut. I don't

315
00:20:50,563 --> 00:20:53,824
think this is a smut book because for me, I need, I need

316
00:20:54,081 --> 00:20:57,856
reciprocal things, and I think

317
00:20:57,856 --> 00:21:01,132
this is one of the most tepid reciprocating—

318
00:21:01,405 --> 00:21:04,939
tepid, tepid is the right— yeah. So like,

319
00:21:05,340 --> 00:21:08,937
this is how I kind of like looked at the book, right? I'm gonna give

320
00:21:08,937 --> 00:21:12,447
it 4 out of 5 stars because it took me a while to get fully

321
00:21:12,463 --> 00:21:16,230
invested in this book. But once Feyre got under the

322
00:21:16,230 --> 00:21:20,029
mountain, I, I locked in, and I loved watching her intelligence

323
00:21:20,029 --> 00:21:23,780
and survival instinct— instincts take over. Yeah. And I

324
00:21:23,844 --> 00:21:27,515
connected with that butch-leaning provider energy

325
00:21:27,708 --> 00:21:31,298
she carries. But as the older lesbian and like mental health

326
00:21:31,298 --> 00:21:35,129
advocate, I also spent half the book watching a traumatized 19-year-old

327
00:21:36,429 --> 00:21:39,703
sacrifice herself while a collection of powerfully

328
00:21:40,040 --> 00:21:43,522
emotionally constipated fae men make questionable decisions around her.

329
00:21:43,907 --> 00:21:47,727
Okay. Goddamn. And

330
00:21:48,160 --> 00:21:51,546
I took a star away because the book dragged for a little bit.

331
00:21:52,252 --> 00:21:55,927
Tamlin frustrated the hell out of me, and everybody needed to

332
00:21:55,927 --> 00:21:59,715
communicate instead of speaking in magical riddles. But the

333
00:21:59,779 --> 00:22:03,470
trials and the trauma, Rhysand's red flag entrance,

334
00:22:03,887 --> 00:22:07,530
and Feyre's transformation Absolutely made me want to continue reading the

335
00:22:07,530 --> 00:22:09,729
series. Uh,
