Some people go to therapy.
Some people join book clubs.
We did both… and somehow still ended up feral over fictional men and women with emotional damage and questionable morals.

Welcome to Paperback Confessions, the spicy little sister to the award-winning mental health podcast Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads, hosted by G-Rex and Dirty Skittles, two emotionally unwell best friends who cope with life through laughter, honesty, and aggressively yelling about books in the group chat.

If you already know us from Sh!t, then you already know we are incapable of having normal conversations. One minute we’re discussing trauma, healing, and survival, and the next we’re debating whether a morally gray shadow daddy could realistically fix us. (Spoiler alert, no… but also maybe.)

And honestly? That’s exactly why this podcast exists.

Because books became more than entertainment for us. They became escape, comfort, connection, emotional support, chaos, therapy, community, and, occasionally, the reason we stayed awake until 3 AM whisper-reading “just one more chapter,” like absolute gremlins.

Paperback Confessions was born from the same thing that built Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads, real conversations, deep feelings, humor that gets us through hard things, and the understanding that sometimes stories save people, too.

Only this time… there’s more spice.
A lot more spice.

Here, we deep-dive into romance, fantasy, smut, world-building, magic systems, emotional damage, slow burns, enemies-to-lovers tension, devastating plot twists, book boyfriends, morally questionable decisions, and the scenes that made us throw the book across the room, only to pick it back up.

We break books down the only way we know how:
completely unfiltered.

You’ll hear:

  • chaotic theories
  • unhinged hot takes
  • emotional spirals
  • passionate character defenses
  • public thirsting over fictional people
  • arguments over red flags we would absolutely avoid in real life
  • and occasional moments where we accidentally get way too deep about healing, identity, grief, love, survival, and why stories matter so damn much.

Because underneath all the chaos, this has always been who we are.

Two humans trying to survive the real world while finding joy, laughter, connection, and comfort in the stories that let us escape it for a little while.

So if you love romance, fantasy, spice, emotional wreckage, messy characters, and laughing with people who fully understand what it means to become emotionally attached to fictional chaos…

You’re home now.

Grab your current read, your iced coffee, your emotional support tabs, and your inability to stop saying “hear me out.”

Welcome to the confession booth.
