Welcome to Paperback Confessions!

About Paperback Confessions: Your Spicy Romance & Fantasy Podcast

Deep dives, hot takes, emotional damage, and the books we can’t stop obsessing over.

Some people go to therapy.
Some people join book clubs.
We did both… and somehow still ended up feral over fictional men and women with emotional damage and questionable morals.

Welcome to Paperback Confessions, the spicy little sister to the award-winning mental health podcast Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads, hosted by G-Rex and Dirty Skittles, two emotionally unwell best friends who cope with life through laughter, honesty, and aggressively yelling about books in the group chat.

If you already know us from Sh!t, then you already know we are incapable of having normal conversations. One minute we’re discussing trauma, healing, and survival, and the next we’re debating whether a morally gray shadow daddy could realistically fix us. (Spoiler alert, no… but also maybe.)

And honestly? That’s exactly why this podcast exists.

Because books became more than entertainment for us. They became escape, comfort, connection, emotional support, chaos, therapy, community, and, occasionally, the reason we stayed awake until 3 AM whisper-reading “just one more chapter,” like absolute gremlins.

Paperback Confessions was born from the same thing that built Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads, real conversations, deep feelings, humor that gets us through hard things, and the understanding that sometimes stories save people, too.

Only this time… there’s more spice.
A lot more spice.

Here, we deep-dive into romance, fantasy, smut, world-building, magic systems, emotional damage, slow burns, enemies-to-lovers tension, devastating plot twists, book boyfriends, morally questionable decisions, and the scenes that made us throw the book across the room, only to pick it back up.

We break books down the only way we know how:
completely unfiltered.

You’ll hear:

  • chaotic theories
  • unhinged hot takes
  • emotional spirals
  • passionate character defenses
  • public thirsting over fictional people
  • arguments over red flags we would absolutely avoid in real life
  • and occasional moments where we accidentally get way too deep about healing, identity, grief, love, survival, and why stories matter so damn much.

Because underneath all the chaos, this has always been who we are.

Two humans trying to survive the real world while finding joy, laughter, connection, and comfort in the stories that let us escape it for a little while.

So if you love romance, fantasy, spice, emotional wreckage, messy characters, and laughing with people who fully understand what it means to become emotionally attached to fictional chaos…

You’re home now.

Grab your current read, your iced coffee, your emotional support tabs, and your inability to stop saying “hear me out.”

Welcome to the confession booth.

About the Hosts

Dirty Skittles

The Chaos Critic

Dirty Skittles is the Chaos Critic of Paperback Confessions, bringing sharp reactions, brutal honesty, and the kind of side-eye that can dismantle an entire plot hole in under ten seconds. She also co-hosts the award-winning mental health podcast Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads with G-Rex, where she brings humor, heart, and real-talk energy to conversations that matter.

On Paperback Confessions, Dirty Skittles is the one most likely to call out bad decisions, questionable relationship choices, suspiciously convenient plot twists, and characters who clearly need consequences, therapy, or both. She loves a good story, but she is not here to be emotionally manipulated by a brooding man with secrets unless the author earns it.

She brings the “red flags, I have notes” energy, the “I said what I said” delivery, and the perfectly timed reaction that makes everyone lose their damn minds.

Role: Chaos Critic
Specialty: Red flags, plot holes, emotional bullshit, character accountability, and brutally funny truth bombs.
Signature energy: “Read it. Rate it. Roast it.”

The Prep Coach

G-Rex is the Prep Coach of Paperback Confessions, walking into every episode with notes, questions, emotional insight, and just enough chaos to make things interesting. As one-half of the award-winning mental health podcast Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads, she knows how to mix humor, honesty, and heart into conversations that might otherwise feel too heavy, too awkward, or too damn real.

Coming into the spicy book world with fresh eyes, G-Rex brings the older lesbian lens, the mental-health lens, and the “I may be new here, but I have thoughts, a lot of them” energy. She’s here for the character psychology, the morally gray disasters, the trauma bonding, the found family, the emotional damage, and the question everyone should be asking, “Is he hot, or does he just need therapy?”

She may not always know the trope terminology, but she absolutely knows a red flag when it starts monologuing in leather pants.

Role: Prep Coach
Specialty: Emotional chaos, deep dives, hot takes, queer perspective, and asking the question that makes everyone pause.
Signature energy: “Grab your annotations and emotional support beverage, we’re going in deep.”

The Smut Master

Nacho is the Smut Master of Paperback Confessions, and yes, she has been training for this role since she was 15, sneaking spicy reads like they were contraband and building a lifetime of expertise in tension, chemistry, forbidden feelings, and book boyfriends who are probably terrible ideas but excellent entertainment.

Full of life, funny as fuck, and absolutely here for the spice, Nacho brings the energy of the friend who knows exactly when the tension is working, when the chemistry is unhinged, and when a scene deserves a full group-chat investigation. She is the official defender of dirty dialogue, slow burns, meaningful glances, dangerous attraction, and characters making choices that are deeply questionable but very fun to discuss.

Nacho is not just reading for the smut, though let’s be honest, she is absolutely reading for the smut. She also brings heart, humor, and a surprisingly sharp read on what makes romance feel believable, addictive, messy, and deliciously chaotic.

Role: Smut Master
Specialty: Spice ratings, chemistry checks, tension analysis, book boyfriend audits, and screaming “I knew it!” at plot twists.
Signature energy: “I’m here for the spice and the tension.”
