A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Butch Huntress Gets Bit, Bewitched, and Betrayed, Pt 2

Paperback Confessions dives into Part 2 of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, unpacking Tamlin’s Spring Court, the fire festival Calanmai, and Feyre’s first electric encounter with Rhysand. The hosts break down red flags, family secrets, and why Tamlin’s ”protection” looks a lot more like control — spoilers, spice, and swearing included.

Spoiler Warning

Heads up, confessors: this is a SPOILER-HEAVY episode. We're back in Prythian for Part 2 of our deep dive into A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, and we're getting into the Spring Court, Calanmai, a very memorable neck bite, and the moment G-Rex officially declared "fuck Tamlin" too.

If you haven't read A Court of Thorns and Roses, go finish crossing that wall before you press play, because we are not holding back.

The Book
  • Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses Series: Book 1 of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series
  • Author: Sarah J. Maas
  • Spice / Heat: Slow burn that finally catches fire — Calanmai, a possessive neck bite, and one very vanilla "I love you" that goes unanswered
  • Tropes: Beauty and the Beast retelling, captor turned "protector," morally gray high lord, forbidden fire festival, the other man appears, glamoured secrets, love confessions nobody's ready for, and a heart of stone trying (and failing) to love somebody
The Confession

Welcome back to the feral little sister of Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads.

In Part 2, Feyre starts settling into Tamlin's estate — if you can call being glamoured, kept behind gates, and lied to about who else lives there "settling in." We meet Lucien (RIP to a real one; he catches every stray in this book), fall down the Tamlin-and-Lucien-are-definitely-a-couple rabbit hole, and unpack the fire festival Calanmai, where Feyre disobeys a very clear warning, meets a devastatingly hot stranger named Rhysand, and ends the night with Tamlin's teeth in her neck.

We also dig into Tamlin's tragic backstory, Lucien's tragic backstory, Feyre's suriel-delivered prophecy to "stay with the High Lord," and the introduction of Amarantha — sorry, Amaretto — the reason this whole curse exists in the first place. By the end, Tamlin sends Feyre home for her own "safety," she finds out her family's been living off his money the whole time, and Nesta — never glamoured, never fooled — cracks something open in Feyre that sends her right back across the wall.

Tamlin is officially past probation. He is in handcuffs.

The Pour

This one basically pairs itself: an amaretto sour, because we cannot say Amarantha's name correctly and we're not going to start now. G-Rex is bringing the amaretto, Nacho's supplying the felt for the Amaretto doll craft project we did not plan to start mid-episode.

For a Calanmai-coded cocktail, go with something fire-toned — a spiced rum and blood orange situation with a cinnamon-stick garnish. Nonalcoholic confessors can stick with a spiced cider or a virgin amaretto sour (yes, that's a thing, look it up).

Just the Tip

In Just the Tip, we get into whether Tamlin ever actually loved Feyre, or just loved what she could do for him.

Dirty Skittles' theory: he has a heart of stone and was never capable of loving her — just the idea of her, and the curse she could break.

Nacho pushes back a little, arguing Tamlin isn't intentionally controlling at first — he's doing what he thinks protection looks like, and it curdles the more Feyre pushes back.

G-Rex lands somewhere in the middle: fighter, not a lover, kind of a narcissist, but she gets why some readers — depending on how they were raised — might actually vibe with the "provider" thing he's selling.

On our Halos to Handcuffs scale, Tamlin is fully in handcuffs now. He glamours her, hides an entire population of people from her, locks her in during Calanmai "for her safety," and then sends her away the second she becomes inconvenient. He also tells her he loves her while actively trying to get rid of her. Sir. Ma'am. Whoever you are. This is not it.

What We Get Into
  • Lucien, the mask, and the curse Tamlin can't explain
  • The great "are Tamlin and Lucien secretly together" theory
  • Alis, the actual MVP of the Spring Court
  • Fairies "can't lie" — a claim we do not trust
  • The generational debate on whether Tamlin's whole vibe is romantic or a red flag
  • Calanmai, the fire festival nobody explained properly
  • Meeting Rhysand: "There you are. I've been looking for you."
  • The neck bite heard 'round Prythian
  • Lucien's Autumn Court backstory and his tragic scar
  • Tamlin's brutal family and his "trying not to be like them" arc
  • The suriel prophecy: stay with the High Lord
  • The first (very vanilla) sex scene and the audiobook narrator's "Sarah, Sarah" problem
  • The heads on spikes and the reveal that Rhysand put them there
  • Rhysand crashing dinner, glamour or no glamour
  • Introducing Amarantha, forever known as Amaretto
  • Tamlin sending Feyre home "for her safety" (sure, Jan)
  • Feyre coming home to a family living off Tamlin's money
  • Nesta was never glamoured — and she went looking for Feyre
  • The conversation with Nesta that finally cracks Feyre open
Favorite Chaos Moments
  • Nacho: "I have enough felt to get this done."
  • Dirty Skittles: "That is my favorite line I've ever heard you say."
  • G-Rex: "Can we give him a bottle of amaretto dressed up like Emma— Amarantha?"
  • Nacho: "May she be ever known, forever known as Amaretto."
  • Dirty Skittles: "Fuck this guy anyways." (on Tamlin, repeatedly, and we mean it every time)
  • Dirty Skittles: "He's like, fuck that guy, I got money now."
  • G-Rex: "I got money around. I'm gonna go fucking spend it like it's the last thing on earth. I don't fucking care."
  • Nacho: "We're so rich, we know we have three times what we had before."
  • Nacho: "That would've sucked. Thank you, Sarah J. Maas."
  • Dirty Skittles: "This is the part where I got hooked into the book — when I realized she's going back. That's when it got good."
Our First Impressions

G-Rex sees Tamlin exactly for what he is — a fighter, not a lover, and more than a little narcissistic — while admitting that if she'd been raised differently, the "let me provide for you and lock the gate behind you" energy might have landed differently. It doesn't for her.

Dirty Skittles came in hating Tamlin and leaves hating him more, convinced he's never once thought about what Feyre needs, only what he needs from her. Lucien, on the other hand, gets nothing but love — loyal to a fault, catching strays for a friend who doesn't deserve him.

Nacho holds a little more grace for early-Tamlin, arguing he's not trying to be controlling on purpose — he just doesn't know how to stop once Feyre stops fitting the shape he needs her to be. That grace runs out fast once Calanmai happens.

We agree on this much: Tamlin sent her away not to protect her, but to protect himself and the fantasy he built her into. And Nesta — messy, guarded, never glamoured Nesta — might be the one who actually gets through to Feyre.

Coming Up Next

In Part 3, Feyre goes back across the wall — and straight Under the Mountain. We're getting into Amarantha's trials, Rhysand's real game, the true cost of loving someone with a heart of stone, and whether Feyre saves Tamlin or finally starts saving herself.

The masks are coming off. The curse is running out of time. And we are just getting started.

Yes, bitch.

00:00:01,247 --> 00:00:04,714
Hey listeners, you're about to hear part 2 of our coverage of A Court of

2
00:00:04,714 --> 00:00:08,359
Thorns and Roses. The romance is blooming, but so is the

3
00:00:08,359 --> 00:00:11,534
danger. Feyre's heart is being tested, secrets are

4
00:00:11,534 --> 00:00:15,369
unraveling, and every choice she makes pulls her closer to a battle

5
00:00:15,418 --> 00:00:18,946
she never asked to fight. Let's head back to the Prythian

6
00:00:19,383 --> 00:00:22,236
and see just how much she is willing to sacrifice.

7
00:00:52,120 --> 00:00:55,808
You know, I think as it's being described, so

8
00:00:55,808 --> 00:00:58,791
he's the, we find out he's the High Lord of the Spring Court.

9
00:00:59,941 --> 00:01:03,648
And when I heard how this was described of like flowers and

10
00:01:03,745 --> 00:01:07,386
greenery and hills and like, just, it's spring, it's beautiful, it's gorgeous, it's

11
00:01:07,386 --> 00:01:11,184
wonderful. Mm-hmm. I thought of Elaine. Like, I was like, oh yeah, this is

12
00:01:11,216 --> 00:01:13,863
like that. This would be her vibe. Oh God.

13
00:01:15,016 --> 00:01:17,991
Found that a little interesting. Um, oh no.

14
00:01:19,398 --> 00:01:23,171
Oh no. Oh, what, what

15
00:01:23,171 --> 00:01:25,187
did I just trigger in you? No.

16
00:01:27,625 --> 00:01:31,134
Every time I hear a theory that's even remotely plausible about everything,

17
00:01:31,975 --> 00:01:35,227
I'm just like, oh, I have so many theories on Tamlin. Goddamn it. We're gonna,

18
00:01:35,390 --> 00:01:39,046
we, I'm, that gorgeous brain is just gonna let it all

19
00:01:39,046 --> 00:01:42,753
out. But yeah, Spring Court sounded

20
00:01:42,753 --> 00:01:46,032
like Nesta's vibe. Like she would've been— Elaine. Sorry.

21
00:01:46,224 --> 00:01:49,824
Elaine's vibe. Under the Mountain is Nesta's vibe.

22
00:01:53,676 --> 00:01:57,228
Um, it was her vibe. Ah, so much of it is her

23
00:01:57,228 --> 00:02:00,957
vibe. But she's there, she's starting

24
00:02:01,085 --> 00:02:04,754
to figure out who's this, this person. The monster now transforms

25
00:02:04,786 --> 00:02:08,617
into his fairy self, who is

26
00:02:08,714 --> 00:02:12,336
like this handsome, gorgeous guy, uh, with like

27
00:02:12,352 --> 00:02:15,912
blonde hair, I think. Doesn't matter. But he's wearing a mask, like a gold

28
00:02:15,912 --> 00:02:19,681
mask over his face. Mm-hmm. And she, I think, originally thinks like, oh, he's

29
00:02:19,681 --> 00:02:23,349
just trying to keep some sort of like anonymity of like who he is. Like

30
00:02:23,349 --> 00:02:26,708
she doesn't understand, or she's like, oh, maybe it's like a fashion choice.

31
00:02:26,949 --> 00:02:30,420
Fucking hilarious. But like, she doesn't know

32
00:02:30,580 --> 00:02:34,185
that that mask is part of this curse that he has.

33
00:02:35,415 --> 00:02:39,038
Um, he can't take it off, which is fucking super funny, honestly.

34
00:02:39,653 --> 00:02:43,065
It's like a beautiful, gorgeous, intricate mask part of it. Anyways, um,

35
00:02:44,569 --> 00:02:47,722
we, we start to see him. I think he

36
00:02:48,701 --> 00:02:51,211
Is still pretty much a dick and an asshole for a while.

37
00:02:52,691 --> 00:02:56,231
Uh, eventually he softens up, I guess, as much as an

38
00:02:56,231 --> 00:02:59,731
asshole could soften up. Um, but we meet the other character,

39
00:02:59,795 --> 00:03:03,070
Lucien. I love Lucien.

40
00:03:03,651 --> 00:03:07,297
So both of you have been telling me

41
00:03:07,297 --> 00:03:11,070
like, fuck Tamlin, fuck Tamlin, fuck Tamlin. It took me

42
00:03:11,070 --> 00:03:14,279
a while to get to that fuck Tamlin part.

43
00:03:14,915 --> 00:03:18,643
Because I did see how he was trying to take her under

44
00:03:18,691 --> 00:03:21,499
his wing. And even though he was an asshole about it,

45
00:03:22,403 --> 00:03:25,023
almost kind of like a little narcissistic about it,

46
00:03:27,708 --> 00:03:31,346
he was— Skittles has broken!

47
00:03:32,365 --> 00:03:36,181
He— it would— it's like I said, it took me a

48
00:03:36,181 --> 00:03:39,394
while to figure out that he was a dick. But, um,

49
00:03:39,979 --> 00:03:42,938
like, I just liked how he matched her,

50
00:03:43,393 --> 00:03:46,694
like Butch energy. Does that make sense?

51
00:03:49,098 --> 00:03:49,710
Okay. How so?

52
00:03:53,433 --> 00:03:57,203
This is why, this is why, G, because, because we've

53
00:03:57,203 --> 00:04:00,930
read the books and, and this is not as bad as

54
00:04:00,930 --> 00:04:04,415
it gets for him. Okay. So it's

55
00:04:04,415 --> 00:04:07,772
important for you to say what you think, knowing what you know.

56
00:04:08,337 --> 00:04:12,037
So to me, he's more of a fighter than a lover. Right.

57
00:04:12,197 --> 00:04:16,011
He is all about being a badass

58
00:04:16,364 --> 00:04:20,098
and being like, I'm the ruler of this

59
00:04:20,130 --> 00:04:23,399
land and my shit don't stink. And

60
00:04:23,976 --> 00:04:27,598
like, for the longest time, I swear to God, I thought

61
00:04:27,598 --> 00:04:31,204
Lucien and Tamlin were like, like

62
00:04:31,364 --> 00:04:35,194
together. Same, right? And who's to say that they're not? We don't know for

63
00:04:35,210 --> 00:04:37,726
sure that they're not. It wasn't written in the book and it made me really

64
00:04:37,726 --> 00:04:40,659
sad. And I'm gonna tell you who's gonna be the top and who's gonna be

65
00:04:40,659 --> 00:04:43,993
the bottom in that relationship. Lucien is definitely

66
00:04:44,624 --> 00:04:47,633
on the receiving end of Tamlin. Oh yeah,

67
00:04:48,992 --> 00:04:51,932
with pleasure. With pleasure. With pleasure.

68
00:04:52,909 --> 00:04:56,698
Like little pointy ears and everything. He's like back there just grabbing onto his

69
00:04:56,795 --> 00:04:58,912
ears and be like, ride him, cowboy. Okay,

70
00:05:01,239 --> 00:05:05,077
I'm sorry, I broke Nacho. That, that's how

71
00:05:05,158 --> 00:05:08,837
I like read into the book. I was like, okay. maybe, maybe

72
00:05:08,837 --> 00:05:12,474
this is how this plays out. But of course it doesn't, because, you know, fantasy

73
00:05:12,522 --> 00:05:16,202
is never fucking reality. But, um, my

74
00:05:16,315 --> 00:05:19,385
whole take on Tamlin is, yes, fighter,

75
00:05:20,108 --> 00:05:22,905
not a lover, kind of a narcissist.

76
00:05:23,938 --> 00:05:27,714
Lucien was kind of a pussy, didn't really stand up for her,

77
00:05:27,923 --> 00:05:28,903
kind of like, you know,

78
00:05:30,832 --> 00:05:34,665
towards the end of the book he starts to stand up for

79
00:05:34,762 --> 00:05:38,544
her, but that's how I see it. I

80
00:05:38,640 --> 00:05:42,171
also thought Lucien and Tamlin were lovers. So

81
00:05:42,187 --> 00:05:45,926
Lucien is what we learned to basically

82
00:05:45,942 --> 00:05:49,393
be Tamlin's bestie. Yeah. They're best friends. They

83
00:05:49,713 --> 00:05:52,827
are, um, Lucien's his like mercenary.

84
00:05:53,340 --> 00:05:57,160
So he's— He's literally, as far as Feyre knows, the only

85
00:05:57,256 --> 00:06:00,899
other person besides Alis, right? It's Alis,

86
00:06:00,964 --> 00:06:04,028
right? Yep. Mm-hmm. Um, the only other person In the,

87
00:06:05,054 --> 00:06:08,805
in the whole world. Yeah. Castle. Yeah. Or

88
00:06:08,805 --> 00:06:11,931
whatever mansion, whatever with him.

89
00:06:12,652 --> 00:06:15,938
Yeah. That's, that's a good point. 'Cause she gets there and there's like nobody, there's

90
00:06:15,938 --> 00:06:19,576
beautiful lands, but it's, it's Tamlin, Lucien, and Alice. Alice is the

91
00:06:19,945 --> 00:06:23,728
housekeeper. What do we call her? Yeah. House person. House

92
00:06:23,728 --> 00:06:27,350
person. She takes care of Feyre while she's there. She like

93
00:06:27,559 --> 00:06:30,059
helps. That's very non-binary of you, G.

94
00:06:33,225 --> 00:06:37,050
Um, I love Alis. I love Alis. She's, she's

95
00:06:37,163 --> 00:06:40,955
the MVP of the story, really. Here we go. There

96
00:06:40,955 --> 00:06:44,804
we go. We're breaking her good now. I'm

97
00:06:44,853 --> 00:06:48,680
gonna wet my pants. I told you, pull out the punny pad.

98
00:06:48,923 --> 00:06:52,454
But I, I do have to say that I think that Feyre

99
00:06:53,862 --> 00:06:57,580
was able to bring out her butch

100
00:06:57,612 --> 00:07:01,364
side and her femme side a little bit more once she

101
00:07:01,444 --> 00:07:04,858
moved in with like Tamlin and Lucien. And I—

102
00:07:05,628 --> 00:07:08,609
one of the things that did make me happy is like when she went to

103
00:07:08,609 --> 00:07:12,312
that first breakfast and that first meal, that was more food than she'd

104
00:07:12,344 --> 00:07:15,807
ever seen in her entire life, right? Yeah. And so

105
00:07:15,823 --> 00:07:19,494
something that would like soothe her soul, but she missed her

106
00:07:19,494 --> 00:07:23,229
family and she's in this like crazy realm

107
00:07:24,638 --> 00:07:28,273
And they all have masks on, so she can't see their true

108
00:07:28,273 --> 00:07:31,731
faces. She can only see like their lips and their

109
00:07:31,812 --> 00:07:35,178
ears and their, their hands and eye color.

110
00:07:35,759 --> 00:07:39,519
Eye color. So for me, I, I would be a little fucking

111
00:07:39,551 --> 00:07:43,247
weirded out. Yeah. And she also has all these like preconceived notions of

112
00:07:43,263 --> 00:07:46,895
fairies. So she like sees the food and she's starving. And to your point, it's

113
00:07:46,895 --> 00:07:50,517
like an abundance, but she's believing that if she

114
00:07:50,598 --> 00:07:54,065
eats their food, that they'll like drug her. So she's

115
00:07:54,065 --> 00:07:57,694
afraid to sort of be that free to have those

116
00:07:57,873 --> 00:08:01,682
types of, to even just eat. Yeah. Yeah. So it

117
00:08:01,682 --> 00:08:05,329
takes her a while. And then she also believes, ooh, fuck Tamlin.

118
00:08:05,636 --> 00:08:09,231
She also believes that fairies can't lie. So

119
00:08:09,327 --> 00:08:11,985
Tamlin— We're gonna go through this episode and I'm gonna have a counter.

120
00:08:12,967 --> 00:08:16,751
Yeah. And I can't wait. Yeah. I can't wait. Let's have a

121
00:08:16,800 --> 00:08:19,726
counter. Don't, Don't hide 'em. Let 'em go.

122
00:08:20,787 --> 00:08:24,145
But the problem is, we're gonna side quest back to the tailman thing cuz somebody

123
00:08:24,257 --> 00:08:28,017
in my life has a very, very interesting perspective. Okay. And

124
00:08:28,097 --> 00:08:31,342
I do wanna voice it for any listener who might be in that same belief.

125
00:08:31,407 --> 00:08:35,150
But, um, she also believes fairies can't lie. And so he tells

126
00:08:35,182 --> 00:08:38,556
her the food is safe, you can eat here. So she has to trust that

127
00:08:38,556 --> 00:08:42,187
this guy can't lie. They can, they can lie. And I'm not saying

128
00:08:42,251 --> 00:08:45,334
the food was drugged, but like they for sure can lie. Um,

129
00:08:46,023 --> 00:08:49,789
the side quest is somebody in my life. I think any listener

130
00:08:49,789 --> 00:08:52,753
or reader, you either love Tamlin or you hate Tamlin.

131
00:08:54,035 --> 00:08:56,887
I don't see how you love— okay, well, if you've read more than one book,

132
00:08:56,919 --> 00:09:00,701
I don't see how you like Tamlin, but okay. Um, but the world is divided

133
00:09:00,701 --> 00:09:03,248
and this person in my life who I love and respect

134
00:09:04,691 --> 00:09:08,440
loves Tamlin and I'm like, what? Like, what the fuck?

135
00:09:08,696 --> 00:09:11,773
Wait, like, like they've read more than one book? Yeah, they've read 'em all.

136
00:09:12,774 --> 00:09:16,477
And I'm like, how do you love Tamlin? And their

137
00:09:16,607 --> 00:09:20,228
theory, or I guess how they see it, is that

138
00:09:20,977 --> 00:09:22,329
from their generation,

139
00:09:24,777 --> 00:09:28,388
this is got the kind of guy you would have. And in my opinion,

140
00:09:30,070 --> 00:09:33,485
yeah, Tamlin, the reason part of like the core of why I hate this

141
00:09:33,485 --> 00:09:36,853
motherfucker is because he wants

142
00:09:36,966 --> 00:09:40,318
Feyre to fit a role. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. He doesn't

143
00:09:40,318 --> 00:09:44,124
believe that, I would argue any woman could

144
00:09:44,494 --> 00:09:48,268
be of high ranking, uh, could be a protector, could

145
00:09:48,268 --> 00:09:51,962
be a provider. And that's all Farrah has ever been is like a protector,

146
00:09:52,026 --> 00:09:55,560
provider, a hunter. Like she's out there and he doesn't

147
00:09:55,576 --> 00:09:59,414
believe that that is the role of a woman. And to

148
00:09:59,414 --> 00:10:02,899
the point where, oh, he is stifling her to just

149
00:10:02,964 --> 00:10:06,176
fit what he needs her to be. And so

150
00:10:06,722 --> 00:10:10,447
that's why I hate this guy. But this person in my life feels like

151
00:10:10,977 --> 00:10:14,637
in their generation, that was the role of a woman, was

152
00:10:14,750 --> 00:10:18,523
to be at home. Yeah. Dress in the dresses, host

153
00:10:18,523 --> 00:10:20,883
the parties. Yeah.

154
00:10:22,329 --> 00:10:25,845
You know what? So the, the person you're thinking about, I,

155
00:10:26,166 --> 00:10:29,955
I, I grew up in that same generation, maybe a few years later.

156
00:10:31,145 --> 00:10:34,316
But that's not how I saw my

157
00:10:34,316 --> 00:10:37,115
role as a woman, to be a provider.

158
00:10:38,346 --> 00:10:41,816
And it could be because of how I was raised, right? Like I was raised

159
00:10:41,816 --> 00:10:45,335
to— I think that has a lot to do with it. A strong, independent

160
00:10:45,335 --> 00:10:49,102
woman that can fend for

161
00:10:49,102 --> 00:10:51,205
myself and take care of myself. And

162
00:10:53,729 --> 00:10:56,949
I think when you're reading the book, it's all on how you were raised.

163
00:10:58,584 --> 00:11:01,899
Of how you would view Tamlin, for sure. Yeah, absolutely. I

164
00:11:01,963 --> 00:11:05,760
think that if you were, 'cause I

165
00:11:05,825 --> 00:11:09,626
see how this could feed into some of the people in my

166
00:11:09,626 --> 00:11:13,275
life and they would feel the same way, maybe. Like

167
00:11:13,421 --> 00:11:16,757
if it was, God rest her soul, my

168
00:11:16,757 --> 00:11:20,501
grandmother, and we didn't have that like little spot, she probably

169
00:11:20,533 --> 00:11:24,117
would've loved it. She probably would've loved it. Oh, Tamlin's taking

170
00:11:24,229 --> 00:11:26,989
care of her. Tamlin's being so sweet. Tamlin's doing the right providing.

171
00:11:29,657 --> 00:11:33,366
And, and he's, you know, gentle with her, but

172
00:11:33,366 --> 00:11:37,123
he's also vicious when it comes to time to, to, you know,

173
00:11:38,424 --> 00:11:41,860
protect what's theirs. And he wants her to be, you know,

174
00:11:42,277 --> 00:11:45,970
so absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. I

175
00:11:45,970 --> 00:11:49,663
can see why I could see why there are

176
00:11:49,663 --> 00:11:53,324
people out there that might vibe with that whole reality.

177
00:11:53,677 --> 00:11:57,128
I love a good, like, Strong protector moment,

178
00:11:57,770 --> 00:12:01,124
but also you have to be able to like

179
00:12:02,585 --> 00:12:06,164
let people live their life. Yes.

180
00:12:06,982 --> 00:12:10,273
Yeah. And I, and then like, it pains me cuz like

181
00:12:11,396 --> 00:12:14,558
it goes, it goes so against everything that I am.

182
00:12:14,799 --> 00:12:17,992
Mm-hmm. So to hear that perspective, like, I know it

183
00:12:18,057 --> 00:12:21,756
logically, I could understand it, but like The core and

184
00:12:21,772 --> 00:12:24,525
essence of my being is like, no.

185
00:12:25,578 --> 00:12:29,060
The part of you that wasn't raised in a way

186
00:12:29,303 --> 00:12:32,007
that keeps you

187
00:12:33,415 --> 00:12:36,945
mindful of the idea that men are

188
00:12:37,544 --> 00:12:39,980
the end-all and be-all. Yeah.

189
00:12:41,755 --> 00:12:45,481
And are only allowed to be a certain way. And I think

190
00:12:45,546 --> 00:12:48,874
that puts it in a nutshell, like how Tamlin is with Feyre

191
00:12:49,389 --> 00:12:53,019
is he is— I don't think he's intending, I don't think he's

192
00:12:53,019 --> 00:12:55,959
like intending to do the things

193
00:12:57,180 --> 00:13:00,886
at the beginning. I don't think he's intentionally trying to be like

194
00:13:01,386 --> 00:13:04,936
a controlling, manipulative asshole. I think

195
00:13:04,936 --> 00:13:08,249
he's actually trying to do what he thinks is the right thing to do.

196
00:13:11,887 --> 00:13:15,430
And the more that Feyre grows. And the more that she

197
00:13:15,558 --> 00:13:19,342
pushes back on that, the more he tries to

198
00:13:19,342 --> 00:13:21,810
push further into the ideal

199
00:13:23,109 --> 00:13:26,636
that he wants to achieve. And so then he starts

200
00:13:26,636 --> 00:13:30,307
using and going further and

201
00:13:30,307 --> 00:13:33,657
going harder into what he wants and what he needs.

202
00:13:34,395 --> 00:13:37,585
And then that's where they lose each other because

203
00:13:38,082 --> 00:13:41,642
he's only concerned with what he needs. and what he wants, and he

204
00:13:41,642 --> 00:13:45,378
stops listening to her. But that's like, that's like

205
00:13:45,378 --> 00:13:48,826
another book. That's not this book. Well, and this could be

206
00:13:48,826 --> 00:13:52,627
100% my bias. I don't think he ever—

207
00:13:53,590 --> 00:13:57,262
okay, hold on. I think he always wanted what he needed. I

208
00:13:57,262 --> 00:14:00,806
don't think he ever really thought about her in what she

209
00:14:00,806 --> 00:14:04,623
needs. I think, and again, I hate this

210
00:14:04,623 --> 00:14:08,424
motherfucker, but I feel like he, it was a gift

211
00:14:08,424 --> 00:14:12,251
to be with him. And that's all he believes. Any female with

212
00:14:12,316 --> 00:14:15,948
me, you're welcome. Like, I am the

213
00:14:15,948 --> 00:14:19,270
High Lord of the Spring Court. I need you,

214
00:14:19,399 --> 00:14:21,408
Feyre, to break this curse.

215
00:14:23,384 --> 00:14:26,785
But I don't think it went farther than that. I think—

216
00:14:26,785 --> 00:14:30,032
Nope. I think he always just,

217
00:14:30,438 --> 00:14:33,457
okay. This is so hard to articulate cuz I think, um,

218
00:14:34,358 --> 00:14:37,587
his protective nature for her where he's like, no,

219
00:14:38,133 --> 00:14:41,794
don't come with me. So he like goes and he like, uh, fights

220
00:14:41,859 --> 00:14:45,344
some of the evil, like monstrous characters that come onto his

221
00:14:45,376 --> 00:14:48,556
land and he wants her to stay back for her protection.

222
00:14:50,001 --> 00:14:53,840
You know, you're a human. This is really dangerous. Even though I'm

223
00:14:53,888 --> 00:14:57,534
a human that killed a, a fairy with one ash

224
00:14:57,743 --> 00:15:01,356
arrow. But you know, whatever. Right, right. But in the beginning it's like, oh, this

225
00:15:01,356 --> 00:15:04,891
is nothing compared to the the wolf fairy you killed. Like, no, you need to

226
00:15:04,891 --> 00:15:08,570
stay back. I'm protecting you. He's like making

227
00:15:08,651 --> 00:15:12,460
her believe, I'm protecting you. I need you to stay here. But in my

228
00:15:12,686 --> 00:15:16,060
mind, I'm like, he needed her to be safe because he needs her to break

229
00:15:16,060 --> 00:15:19,111
his curse. So he's not willing to risk anything

230
00:15:20,822 --> 00:15:24,039
to take that away. I think towards—

231
00:15:26,011 --> 00:15:29,504
and I think he kind of like conditions her to sort of feel like he

232
00:15:29,504 --> 00:15:33,170
is my protector. He wants the best for me. What a great high lord. Like,

233
00:15:33,251 --> 00:15:36,976
he is just the cat's pajamas. Like, he's

234
00:15:37,040 --> 00:15:40,765
amazing. He's handsome. He's protecting me. Look at— he's giving me all

235
00:15:40,813 --> 00:15:44,522
this food, this beautiful house. I'm not a prisoner. I can walk his grounds.

236
00:15:45,052 --> 00:15:48,842
Don't go past the fucking gates, but I can go anywhere else. I'm not a

237
00:15:48,842 --> 00:15:52,647
prisoner. Look at me. Yeah. But then you vibe with that whole,

238
00:15:52,695 --> 00:15:56,533
like, the same idea and okay. Okay. Okay. But then you have

239
00:15:56,533 --> 00:16:00,283
the holiday. And he's all like, oh, this is just a thing that I

240
00:16:00,283 --> 00:16:04,041
have to do. Ugh. I just have to go have sex. This is just

241
00:16:04,089 --> 00:16:06,875
a thing I have to go do. Fuck this guy. And I'm like,

242
00:16:08,771 --> 00:16:11,971
he kind of loses me there because at first I was like, uh,

243
00:16:12,747 --> 00:16:15,462
all right. It's like a, like a Beauty and the Beast kind of a thing.

244
00:16:15,640 --> 00:16:19,387
Oh. And he's just an asshole. And you know, we

245
00:16:19,387 --> 00:16:23,044
have a side quest on that too, but oh, good. Let's bring it. Let's do

246
00:16:23,174 --> 00:16:26,476
it. So like, that's why I was trying, cuz I was like, I was trying

247
00:16:26,476 --> 00:16:29,879
to get into it cuz one of my other book besties,

248
00:16:31,098 --> 00:16:34,774
uh, for life is like, you have to read this.

249
00:16:35,512 --> 00:16:38,031
And so I was trying really hard just to like

250
00:16:39,219 --> 00:16:42,044
get through. I was trudging along. So I was like, okay, maybe, maybe it's like

251
00:16:42,044 --> 00:16:44,756
a Beauty and the Beast thing cuz I have to like have expectations in a

252
00:16:44,756 --> 00:16:48,367
book to be like, keep going. Right? Yeah.

253
00:16:49,009 --> 00:16:52,577
What were you gonna say, G? Yeah, same, same thing. I, you know, I

254
00:16:52,690 --> 00:16:55,891
read it as like Beauty and the Beast, but like a fucked up version of

255
00:16:55,923 --> 00:16:59,694
Beauty and the Beast. Yeah, I thought we were going like

256
00:16:59,694 --> 00:17:03,485
Anne Rice, right? Like super, super fucked

257
00:17:03,485 --> 00:17:06,888
up. But like the whole, like

258
00:17:07,194 --> 00:17:10,694
the sequences of like her

259
00:17:10,984 --> 00:17:13,110
like finding her own way on this land, right?

260
00:17:15,072 --> 00:17:18,722
Lucien telling her to go And capture this,

261
00:17:19,171 --> 00:17:23,005
this screaming— Serial. Mimi, whatever the fuck we want to call it, and

262
00:17:23,582 --> 00:17:26,630
trying to get, trying to get like the truth out of that. And then

263
00:17:27,433 --> 00:17:31,283
how she was gonna try and sneak back in and go and see her father

264
00:17:31,283 --> 00:17:34,395
and sister, and like creepy fucking shit was coming out. And

265
00:17:35,069 --> 00:17:38,791
like, but didn't he, didn't they glamour, didn't they

266
00:17:38,823 --> 00:17:42,224
glamour her also? So like she couldn't see the

267
00:17:42,224 --> 00:17:45,754
other— Anybody else. Anybody else. She only saw those, like, how

268
00:17:45,835 --> 00:17:49,495
fucking fucked up is that? Yeah. So yeah, he glamours her. So

269
00:17:49,511 --> 00:17:53,091
she only believes all that is there, like Nacho said,

270
00:17:53,267 --> 00:17:57,008
is Tamlin, Lucien, and Alis, that there is

271
00:17:57,120 --> 00:18:00,828
nobody else on this land. Fast forward to like when the

272
00:18:00,828 --> 00:18:03,654
book started to get really interesting, she,

273
00:18:04,504 --> 00:18:08,309
she starts to see that there are other people there. They have

274
00:18:08,437 --> 00:18:12,283
always been there. He just hid them from her. Why do you think that

275
00:18:12,283 --> 00:18:15,893
is? I, I

276
00:18:15,925 --> 00:18:19,661
think it's because they, they wanted to, they didn't

277
00:18:19,677 --> 00:18:20,656
want her to,

278
00:18:23,772 --> 00:18:27,238
they wanted to make her still feel like she was held, being held captive.

279
00:18:27,351 --> 00:18:31,093
Right. And that she didn't have any choices.

280
00:18:33,583 --> 00:18:37,370
I, I don't know. No, I don't think

281
00:18:37,370 --> 00:18:40,710
so. No, I don't think so. Yeah. I don't think he wanted her to talk

282
00:18:40,710 --> 00:18:44,130
to anybody else. I, 'cause that's what I, that's what this was, uh, under the

283
00:18:44,130 --> 00:18:47,490
thumb, man. Under the thumb. Yeah. You're not like, you don't see them, they don't

284
00:18:47,490 --> 00:18:50,470
exist. You are the only thing. Because he really fucking loses me at Cal and

285
00:18:50,470 --> 00:18:54,130
Mai. Okay. So let's get to Cal and Mai. Cal and Mai

286
00:18:54,130 --> 00:18:57,970
is this weird fucking— Oh, oh, this

287
00:18:57,970 --> 00:19:01,650
is so fucked up. It's so fucked up. So you remember how I called Sean

288
00:19:01,650 --> 00:19:05,450
the granola eating motherfucker in Ravenhood? Yeah. So as

289
00:19:05,483 --> 00:19:08,328
I was like reviewing this book, I was like,

290
00:19:08,959 --> 00:19:12,322
Tamlin is the fiddle-playing motherfucker because in

291
00:19:12,435 --> 00:19:16,238
Kalanmai, he's just like, here's how I imagine it in my

292
00:19:16,238 --> 00:19:19,962
brain, right? You got this, he's like a Fabio-looking kind of character,

293
00:19:19,978 --> 00:19:23,444
right? Like tall, broad, muscular, ripped,

294
00:19:23,930 --> 00:19:27,382
long flowing locks, a gold mask, sweat

295
00:19:27,382 --> 00:19:30,186
bleeding off his skin, and he's just playing the fucking fiddle. Yes.

296
00:19:31,890 --> 00:19:35,697
Yeah. Like, like Devil Goes Down to Georgia. Yeah. Around a fire. He's just,

297
00:19:35,858 --> 00:19:39,448
fuck this guy anyways. But

298
00:19:39,448 --> 00:19:42,406
Calamite, to, to what Nacho was getting towards earlier,

299
00:19:44,460 --> 00:19:48,251
is like beforehand, I don't remember if it was him or Lucien that tells her

300
00:19:48,251 --> 00:19:51,770
like, hey, heads up, we're about to have this bomb-ass party

301
00:19:51,786 --> 00:19:55,043
outside and you may hear music and see lights and there's gonna be food and

302
00:19:55,043 --> 00:19:58,642
people, but like, you need to stay here. Yeah. You can't come out. Like,

303
00:19:58,851 --> 00:20:02,576
what the fuck? It's for your safety. Stay inside.

304
00:20:03,105 --> 00:20:06,830
Um, also, if you don't stay inside, Tamlin becomes

305
00:20:06,830 --> 00:20:10,474
a raging horny motherfucker and he needs to have sex with

306
00:20:10,490 --> 00:20:14,183
somebody tonight. And if he smells you and can get to you,

307
00:20:14,343 --> 00:20:18,020
he's gonna fuck you in a way that you're not gonna like. So stay inside.

308
00:20:18,694 --> 00:20:21,584
That immediately would've just perked up my ears and been like,

309
00:20:21,648 --> 00:20:23,767
mm, okay.

310
00:20:25,865 --> 00:20:29,618
Oops. Oops. Here I am. Hi. My bad. Hi,

311
00:20:29,638 --> 00:20:32,412
I'm here. Yeah.

312
00:20:34,963 --> 00:20:37,536
So, uh, spoiler alert, she doesn't stay inside. Uh,

313
00:20:38,780 --> 00:20:42,480
she, she makes her way there and she like gets stopped by these

314
00:20:42,480 --> 00:20:46,070
3 Brutuses. Yeah. 'Cause Calamite, she like

315
00:20:46,118 --> 00:20:49,596
goes to get food outta the kitchen 'cause she's so hungry. 'Cause FYI, all the

316
00:20:49,596 --> 00:20:53,044
food's at the party. And she's left in the house with no food. 'Cause Cal

317
00:20:53,044 --> 00:20:56,246
and Maia is just for spring court. It's like,

318
00:20:57,534 --> 00:21:00,833
um, he has to have sex with somebody so like their crops

319
00:21:00,914 --> 00:21:04,472
survive or something. Yeah. Okay. So she goes outside,

320
00:21:05,277 --> 00:21:08,958
she sees faeries lined up. Tamlin apparently has his

321
00:21:09,057 --> 00:21:11,451
pick of the, the litter. He's gonna fuck somebody tonight.

322
00:21:15,117 --> 00:21:18,325
Um, as she's out there. A bunch of fairy

323
00:21:18,583 --> 00:21:22,205
males, I guess, sniff her out and they're like, ooh, human, go

324
00:21:22,205 --> 00:21:25,208
fuck this girl. And she's like, oh no,

325
00:21:26,493 --> 00:21:29,812
what am I gonna do? Nobody's here to protect me, my Tamlin. And

326
00:21:30,329 --> 00:21:33,966
instead she meets a character called

327
00:21:33,966 --> 00:21:37,748
Rhysand, and his first words to Feyre

328
00:21:37,829 --> 00:21:41,156
are, there you are. I've been looking for you.

329
00:21:42,630 --> 00:21:46,355
Uh, foreshadowing. Foreshadowing. And she's

330
00:21:46,355 --> 00:21:49,951
like, whoa, who's that? Remember that

331
00:21:50,513 --> 00:21:54,222
this guy is the sexiest fucking guy I've ever

332
00:21:54,222 --> 00:21:57,145
seen in my life. Complete opposite of

333
00:21:58,301 --> 00:22:02,042
Tamlin. He's not wearing a mask. He has dark hair. He has these beautiful

334
00:22:02,074 --> 00:22:05,157
blue slash violet eyes. He is tall,

335
00:22:05,767 --> 00:22:09,476
dark. It looks like there's shadows caressing him. He just appears outta nowhere.

336
00:22:10,503 --> 00:22:14,146
And the fairy guys that are trying to fuck Feyre are

337
00:22:14,194 --> 00:22:17,950
like, whoa, we're getting outta here. This guy's, he's something. And

338
00:22:17,966 --> 00:22:21,576
they leave. He's scary. Yeah. He scares them

339
00:22:21,576 --> 00:22:25,155
away. And so I think she becomes wary of like, oh my God, who's this

340
00:22:25,267 --> 00:22:28,814
guy? And then he proceeds to be like, hey, why are you out here? You

341
00:22:28,814 --> 00:22:31,494
know, like, what, what you doing, girl? And she's like, oh no, I'm here with

342
00:22:31,526 --> 00:22:35,361
my friends. And he's like, well, they

343
00:22:35,361 --> 00:22:38,651
just left you alone here. Like, that sounds like not a good friend. Maybe you

344
00:22:38,651 --> 00:22:42,337
should stay out of trouble. Uh, then Lucien kind of

345
00:22:42,353 --> 00:22:45,333
comes. I think he like runs her back to the house and he's like, you

346
00:22:45,350 --> 00:22:47,876
gotta hide yourself, Tamlin's gonna smell you and fuck you.

347
00:22:51,203 --> 00:22:54,165
Yeah. Me and my Cliff Notes.

348
00:22:55,580 --> 00:22:58,959
Dude, your Cliff Notes are spann— handled.

349
00:22:59,735 --> 00:23:02,404
Mic drop. Uh, yeah.

350
00:23:05,806 --> 00:23:09,637
Tamlin finds her. I think it was after the party though. Like there was

351
00:23:09,685 --> 00:23:13,320
like remnants of this beast, but he's already fucked somebody else. So

352
00:23:14,152 --> 00:23:17,315
yeah, apparently he can only fuck one person one night.

353
00:23:19,019 --> 00:23:20,728
So she has to settle with him biting her neck

354
00:23:22,986 --> 00:23:26,743
and it's hot. You know? It, it is hot. It was like, I, I

355
00:23:26,775 --> 00:23:30,480
thought for sure at that, that point that they were gonna

356
00:23:30,480 --> 00:23:34,260
like do it. Yeah. But like, he was just,

357
00:23:34,260 --> 00:23:37,980
he was brutal. Okay. He, he reminds me of like a mean fucking

358
00:23:37,980 --> 00:23:41,720
drunk or an abusive husband. Mm-hmm. Like,

359
00:23:41,720 --> 00:23:45,260
you don't fucking do that shit. Okay. You, you just don't, you don't do it

360
00:23:45,260 --> 00:23:48,800
in real life and doing it in smutty books. I mean, it's

361
00:23:48,800 --> 00:23:52,580
okay, but fuck you. Like, fuck off. Yeah, it's okay in

362
00:23:52,580 --> 00:23:55,980
smutty books. Gee, it's okay in smutty books. We're okay. In smutty books. But like,

363
00:23:55,980 --> 00:23:59,500
I fucking— This is not your first bite. You will get more bites. And

364
00:23:59,500 --> 00:24:03,340
as a lesbian, like, if a woman did that to me, I'm gonna kick you

365
00:24:03,340 --> 00:24:06,800
in the pussy. Exactly. Okay? And I'm not gonna fucking think twice about it.

366
00:24:06,800 --> 00:24:10,600
Don't fucking edge G. She'll kick you right in the

367
00:24:10,600 --> 00:24:14,300
pussy. Don't fucking edge her. I will kick you in

368
00:24:14,300 --> 00:24:18,090
the cooter and not even think twice about it.

369
00:24:18,200 --> 00:24:21,040
I do not have time for this shit. If you're gonna bite my neck, you

370
00:24:21,040 --> 00:24:24,600
better be biting someplace else too. Like you said,

371
00:24:24,600 --> 00:24:28,187
Ellie, or don't even come over here. All in or get the fuck

372
00:24:28,187 --> 00:24:32,027
out. Like, bring your furry little paw and like give

373
00:24:32,027 --> 00:24:35,868
me some other action. Just don't bite my fucking neck because now I'm like

374
00:24:35,900 --> 00:24:39,660
bruised up and I'm horny as fuck. Thanks. I will

375
00:24:39,725 --> 00:24:43,488
say, all right, what I appreciated— Nacho is dead.

376
00:24:44,405 --> 00:24:47,859
Well, because Nacho— I don't know if it was the kick kicker in the pussy

377
00:24:48,135 --> 00:24:51,800
comment or cook the cooter. I don't know. Doesn't

378
00:24:51,800 --> 00:24:52,270
matter.

379
00:24:55,386 --> 00:24:59,144
Okay, okay, my face hurts. I love

380
00:24:59,144 --> 00:25:02,901
it. Gee, I don't think I— I love

381
00:25:03,094 --> 00:25:04,780
it. I love it.

382
00:25:05,968 --> 00:25:09,468
Okay, okay, go ahead. Uh,

383
00:25:10,560 --> 00:25:14,253
I was gonna say, I think the best part of the neck bite was, uh,

384
00:25:14,478 --> 00:25:18,042
Lucien's reaction to— reaction to it in the morning. He kind of

385
00:25:18,267 --> 00:25:21,462
gives them a hard time. He's like, oh, what happened to your neck?

386
00:25:22,666 --> 00:25:26,102
And Tamlin's like, oh, I bit her. And like, they kind of like fuck around

387
00:25:26,198 --> 00:25:29,650
back and forth on it. Uh, side note, I think

388
00:25:29,650 --> 00:25:33,343
Lucien's probably one of my favorite characters in book

389
00:25:33,359 --> 00:25:37,100
1, cuz he's like underrated, right? Like, Yeah. Lucien has like this

390
00:25:37,389 --> 00:25:41,210
fucking gnarly scar over his eye. He also has like a

391
00:25:41,210 --> 00:25:44,999
mechanical eye. It's not a, it's not like a normal eyeball, so

392
00:25:44,999 --> 00:25:47,327
you're kind of like, through book 1 are like, oh my God, what the fuck

393
00:25:47,327 --> 00:25:50,827
happened to him? Right? Like, where's his eye? Um,

394
00:25:51,405 --> 00:25:55,227
and Lucien's like this loyal friend to Tamlin, but he's also kind of an

395
00:25:55,259 --> 00:25:58,534
asshole. Like he enjoys fucking with Feyre.

396
00:25:59,193 --> 00:26:02,661
Um, he's like a, it was like a brother-sister relationship where he's just like

397
00:26:02,725 --> 00:26:05,712
nagging on her and like fucking doing mean shit, but it's funny.

398
00:26:06,579 --> 00:26:10,384
Um, so I like— I totally thought there was gonna

399
00:26:10,448 --> 00:26:13,917
be a 3-way here. Insert all the way.

400
00:26:14,687 --> 00:26:18,509
I thought, cuz you were talking about how you were Thinking that

401
00:26:18,621 --> 00:26:21,687
Lucien and, and Tamlin, I was like, oh,

402
00:26:22,490 --> 00:26:26,311
here we go, here we go. I wanted there to

403
00:26:26,327 --> 00:26:29,634
be— there's got to be fanfic out there. But like, how do you have sex

404
00:26:29,698 --> 00:26:33,503
with somebody's like metal eye that's still like fucking rolling around in their head? They're

405
00:26:33,503 --> 00:26:37,179
not having sex with the eye, dude. But you

406
00:26:37,179 --> 00:26:40,887
still gotta look at the face. No, you don't. You can close your

407
00:26:41,016 --> 00:26:44,421
eyes or roll over. Are we like On all

408
00:26:44,421 --> 00:26:48,065
fours? Am I facing the backboard? I just don't know. However you

409
00:26:48,114 --> 00:26:50,180
want it. Just, I mean,

410
00:26:51,674 --> 00:26:55,181
whatever. You just let your fupa cover it.

411
00:26:55,716 --> 00:26:58,535
It's fine.

412
00:27:00,414 --> 00:27:01,710
Just close your eyes, babe.

413
00:27:06,390 --> 00:27:09,783
Wait, your eye— what is that cold metal thing on my back? Did your eye

414
00:27:09,783 --> 00:27:12,131
just pop out? You just hear like

415
00:27:13,616 --> 00:27:16,134
he can't see shit. Not now.

416
00:27:17,312 --> 00:27:20,871
Look at me later. Like a booty. It's

417
00:27:20,871 --> 00:27:23,385
fallen and I can't get up. Okay.

418
00:27:24,926 --> 00:27:26,029
Oh my God.

419
00:27:28,879 --> 00:27:31,794
Oh, that's twice. Twice we've broken Nacho.

420
00:27:32,825 --> 00:27:36,529
Sorry, sorry, Dirty Skittles. I know you're trying to be serious, but we

421
00:27:36,529 --> 00:27:40,346
can't. No, I love this shit. I

422
00:27:40,346 --> 00:27:43,881
love it. I, the, but he's like one of my favorite

423
00:27:43,881 --> 00:27:46,708
characters and I, and I feel for him. Yeah. 'Cause especially in this book, he

424
00:27:46,708 --> 00:27:50,387
catches so many strays. Lucien gets fucked so

425
00:27:50,387 --> 00:27:53,375
many times in this book. Mm-hmm. Just trying to be a loyal friend to Tamlin.

426
00:27:54,082 --> 00:27:57,006
And I'm like, this poor fucking guy. He's like

427
00:27:57,777 --> 00:28:01,055
loyal to a fault and it makes him make shit choices

428
00:28:01,248 --> 00:28:05,007
because that's his best friend. That's his high lord. Like he, he. He's

429
00:28:05,007 --> 00:28:08,025
just loyal to his family. Oh yeah. 'Cause he owes, he owes, I mean,

430
00:28:09,101 --> 00:28:12,666
yeah, he, he says he owes Tamlin. Yeah.

431
00:28:12,810 --> 00:28:16,648
For all the things. And I, and we do find out

432
00:28:16,664 --> 00:28:20,212
in this book, some backstory to Lucien is that he

433
00:28:20,501 --> 00:28:23,857
is from the Autumn Court, which one of my favorite seasons.

434
00:28:24,275 --> 00:28:27,759
Um, he basically gets

435
00:28:28,465 --> 00:28:32,044
kicked out of his family. After they

436
00:28:32,400 --> 00:28:35,784
torture and kill the love of his life and make him watch,

437
00:28:36,221 --> 00:28:39,430
they make Lucien watch what they're doing. They off his

438
00:28:40,177 --> 00:28:43,899
love and kick him out of the court and Tamlin takes him in.

439
00:28:45,060 --> 00:28:47,638
Don't worry. I mean, they, they make him watch

440
00:28:48,782 --> 00:28:52,183
them brutally murder. Yeah.

441
00:28:52,730 --> 00:28:56,431
The love of his life. Yeah. And when he had both of his eyes.

442
00:28:59,040 --> 00:29:02,890
Fucking asshole. And then has a metal

443
00:29:02,890 --> 00:29:05,410
one like rolling around in his head. Yeah.

444
00:29:06,960 --> 00:29:09,640
No. I should have taken a gummy before this.

445
00:29:13,049 --> 00:29:16,870
Oh, oh, poor Lucian, you know. So like, he, he, he owes that to the

446
00:29:16,870 --> 00:29:18,810
camera. This is when he had both of his eyes. When he had both of

447
00:29:18,810 --> 00:29:22,390
his— Now in my brain is camera 1, camera 2,

448
00:29:22,390 --> 00:29:26,091
camera 1. Camera, camera work. Camera team. Um,

449
00:29:27,761 --> 00:29:31,055
so yeah, he, I love Lucien. Bless his heart.

450
00:29:31,770 --> 00:29:34,746
He meant well. Oh no, not bless his heart.

451
00:29:37,646 --> 00:29:41,149
Speaking of hearts though. Oh no. Um,

452
00:29:41,985 --> 00:29:45,585
so we learned that about Lucien. We also learn a little bit of Tamlin's story

453
00:29:45,601 --> 00:29:49,307
and why he's such a fucking asshole, I guess. Uh, he, his

454
00:29:49,404 --> 00:29:53,025
dad and his brothers are all like brutal. Yeah. Um, killed a

455
00:29:53,025 --> 00:29:53,781
bunch of people,

456
00:29:57,207 --> 00:30:00,923
people that'll come back and are characters that anyways killed a

457
00:30:00,923 --> 00:30:04,679
bunch of people. Um, also I think they like would take like

458
00:30:04,679 --> 00:30:08,293
humans as slaves and treat them like shit too. So like, yeah, Tamlin

459
00:30:08,793 --> 00:30:11,520
sort of has this inner struggle. Like he doesn't wanna be like his dad or

460
00:30:11,520 --> 00:30:14,975
his brothers, but he very much has an agenda.

461
00:30:15,705 --> 00:30:19,323
So in my opinion, His only— he

462
00:30:19,403 --> 00:30:23,252
goes the route of keeping her as a prisoner, as a slave, because that's

463
00:30:23,252 --> 00:30:26,231
kind of what he's seen his fathers and his brothers do. But he's trying to

464
00:30:26,231 --> 00:30:30,044
do it without like the mentality that she's doing. Yeah. He's trying to

465
00:30:30,044 --> 00:30:33,406
be not a, not as be as like assholes that his

466
00:30:33,600 --> 00:30:36,932
family was. Yes.

467
00:30:37,029 --> 00:30:39,236
And some of the people that they kill—

468
00:30:41,669 --> 00:30:44,997
oh, is this in book 1? Yeah. Probably not.

469
00:30:47,898 --> 00:30:51,459
Probably not. Okay. Think about where we end. Do we

470
00:30:51,459 --> 00:30:54,270
know about it before? That's why I was like, uh,

471
00:30:55,620 --> 00:30:59,149
anyways, we, we can always reference back. He's made enemies. There we go.

472
00:30:59,539 --> 00:31:03,245
He's made enemies. Yeah. Um, because his family has

473
00:31:03,440 --> 00:31:07,020
brutally murdered other families. Mm-hmm. So he has enemies.

474
00:31:07,231 --> 00:31:11,073
Um, Anyways, all of that to

475
00:31:11,073 --> 00:31:13,071
say that eventually at some point,

476
00:31:15,180 --> 00:31:18,889
Lucien continues to fuck around with Feyre, but she's able to—

477
00:31:20,051 --> 00:31:23,057
he sends her off on a mission. Um, he teaches her how to

478
00:31:23,153 --> 00:31:26,126
snag a surreal, which is a creature. Mm-hmm.

479
00:31:27,379 --> 00:31:31,010
And she's a huntress. So her G.I. Jane comes back

480
00:31:31,075 --> 00:31:34,878
out and she fucking nails it. She, she snags this thing. Uh, the

481
00:31:34,878 --> 00:31:38,662
Suriel starts to tell her kind of her future, sort

482
00:31:38,662 --> 00:31:42,350
of. One of the lines it tells her, and I

483
00:31:42,398 --> 00:31:45,583
think this is important because it makes her become

484
00:31:46,908 --> 00:31:50,641
that role Tamlin wants, is that this creature tells her that you have to

485
00:31:50,641 --> 00:31:53,847
stay with the High Lord. Stay with the High Lord. And so

486
00:31:54,431 --> 00:31:57,998
that's like, in Feyre's mind, oh, Tamlin, he'll

487
00:31:58,014 --> 00:32:01,264
protect me. I have to stay with him. And so she begins to sort of

488
00:32:01,297 --> 00:32:05,048
fit into that role that Tamlin needs and wants her to be in.

489
00:32:05,807 --> 00:32:09,510
And they start to develop feelings for one another, sort of. I say

490
00:32:09,510 --> 00:32:13,238
sort of, cuz I question whether or not Tamlin ever really felt anything for

491
00:32:13,238 --> 00:32:16,708
her because he has a

492
00:32:16,708 --> 00:32:20,071
heart of stone. Yes, he does. So how do you,

493
00:32:21,157 --> 00:32:24,545
how do you love someone when you have a heart of stone?

494
00:32:26,760 --> 00:32:30,040
Is it always mental? 'Cause that's what I went through. So I'm curious. How is

495
00:32:30,040 --> 00:32:32,660
he getting an erection if he's got a heart of stone?

496
00:32:34,200 --> 00:32:37,880
'Cause I don't think you gotta feel with your heart to get hard

497
00:32:37,880 --> 00:32:40,920
for— Do you know what I mean? No, but you have to have blood pumping,

498
00:32:40,920 --> 00:32:44,680
right? That is the science of the— Okay. You know

499
00:32:44,680 --> 00:32:48,200
what? It's all right. It's like, it's like, it's like Lisa the

500
00:32:48,200 --> 00:32:52,040
lesbian and like how she like fucks up every Hollywood movie I

501
00:32:52,040 --> 00:32:55,697
watch. Like, how do they do that? I'm like, it's the fucking movies, okay?

502
00:32:56,276 --> 00:32:59,905
So this is a book. Wait, did I fuck it up or did Nacho fuck

503
00:33:00,050 --> 00:33:03,262
it up? Nacho's fucking this up. Nacho fucked it up.

504
00:33:03,744 --> 00:33:07,245
It's a, it's a book. So like, maybe because

505
00:33:07,823 --> 00:33:10,779
they're— it's half man, half animal,

506
00:33:11,855 --> 00:33:15,292
maybe they're— I mean, it's a different way. Maybe, I don't know, maybe we get

507
00:33:15,292 --> 00:33:18,793
an erection by like just thinking about it. I know many men that

508
00:33:19,082 --> 00:33:22,907
An erection just fucking thinking about it. You know, like they don't

509
00:33:22,907 --> 00:33:26,587
even have to touch that shit. That's my theory. My

510
00:33:26,636 --> 00:33:29,946
wild fucking theory as Dirty Skittles is that this

511
00:33:30,252 --> 00:33:34,077
fucking piece of shit guy never loved her because he couldn't. He could

512
00:33:34,109 --> 00:33:37,521
never fucking love her. He always wanted her for a

513
00:33:37,569 --> 00:33:41,086
purpose. And maybe he was in love with the idea of her,

514
00:33:41,783 --> 00:33:45,367
but never really her. Yeah. Damn. And, and

515
00:33:45,769 --> 00:33:49,542
to the opposite, Feyre sees him as he saved her

516
00:33:49,542 --> 00:33:53,187
from the life she had. So yeah, he's protecting her.

517
00:33:53,331 --> 00:33:56,944
She's now being reaffirmed to stay with the High Lord. So she just

518
00:33:56,944 --> 00:34:00,284
falls into that role. And that's when, like, she kind of

519
00:34:00,460 --> 00:34:03,495
opens up the possibility of sort of flirting and letting this

520
00:34:04,153 --> 00:34:07,268
kind of progress because that's what I should be doing now. And

521
00:34:08,184 --> 00:34:11,946
they eventually— Dude, to be quite honest, I don't even

522
00:34:11,946 --> 00:34:15,620
remember the first time they had sex cuz I hated it so much because it

523
00:34:15,652 --> 00:34:19,020
was so like sweet and

524
00:34:19,438 --> 00:34:22,656
yeah, with a character I hated, I couldn't get past it. So do you remember?

525
00:34:22,833 --> 00:34:26,457
Yeah, it was very, very vanilla and very like

526
00:34:28,723 --> 00:34:29,710
what I imagined

527
00:34:29,710 --> 00:34:33,287
sex

528
00:34:33,417 --> 00:34:37,138
would look like with somebody from that. With a lion.

529
00:34:37,489 --> 00:34:41,133
Frame of mind. No, not sex with the lion, dude. Could you

530
00:34:41,133 --> 00:34:44,983
imagine? Oh, they bite on you, don't they? On

531
00:34:45,016 --> 00:34:48,612
the back. Well, you know, or just sex with a

532
00:34:48,612 --> 00:34:50,546
cat. You know, they're nice rough tongues.

533
00:34:56,589 --> 00:35:00,325
Hey, I wish I was purring for sure. Everybody wants

534
00:35:00,406 --> 00:35:03,479
a rough tongue every now and then. But I, you know, I do see your

535
00:35:03,495 --> 00:35:06,906
point where She, she

536
00:35:06,906 --> 00:35:10,718
saw him as a savior, right? But I also kind of like looked at it

537
00:35:10,766 --> 00:35:14,564
from, from my lens as like, you know, there's

538
00:35:14,564 --> 00:35:18,154
certain points in times in my life where like I just needed

539
00:35:18,154 --> 00:35:21,305
somebody to sweep me up and like fucking take care of me because apparently I

540
00:35:21,467 --> 00:35:25,051
can't take very good care of myself. Hmm. But at the same time, there's a

541
00:35:25,164 --> 00:35:28,836
price to pay for that, right? Yeah. Getting locked away in this motherfucking house

542
00:35:29,674 --> 00:35:33,164
and like 2 crazy dudes with masks on it. on them.

543
00:35:34,031 --> 00:35:37,421
And— Usually that's a great start to a

544
00:35:37,485 --> 00:35:41,261
book. And not being able to leave the

545
00:35:41,341 --> 00:35:44,907
lands, but like you have Lucien telling her, like sending her all these

546
00:35:45,052 --> 00:35:48,779
fucked up quests and, you know, kind of hoping that she doesn't die,

547
00:35:49,213 --> 00:35:52,795
but like kind of in the back of his head, he's like, I don't

548
00:35:52,844 --> 00:35:56,266
know if she's gonna survive this. And then you have Tamlin who's very

549
00:35:56,362 --> 00:36:00,169
possessive, right? And it's like, you can't do this. You blah,

550
00:36:00,233 --> 00:36:03,906
blah, blah. Fuck you, dude. Listen. Yeah. I'm gonna do what I

551
00:36:03,922 --> 00:36:07,066
wanna do when I wanna fucking do it. Bring me some motherfucking

552
00:36:07,114 --> 00:36:10,499
food and quit being a dick. It, he was like a,

553
00:36:11,847 --> 00:36:15,392
remember the animal in Dr. Dolittle, the push me, pull me?

554
00:36:15,937 --> 00:36:18,680
He reminded me a lot of like push me, pull me. Hmm.

555
00:36:19,562 --> 00:36:23,188
Yeah. I just hated him off the jump. I don't know. I did.

556
00:36:23,396 --> 00:36:26,556
I did. And it, and it, it got worse as the series went on.

557
00:36:27,267 --> 00:36:30,873
Um, yeah, but yeah, it's an interesting

558
00:36:30,905 --> 00:36:34,399
dynamic. They, they eventually start to have feelings for one another. They have sex at

559
00:36:34,448 --> 00:36:38,135
some point. I, I'll be honest, listeners, I, I don't remember the sex. I

560
00:36:38,135 --> 00:36:41,693
just remember it was very vanilla to Nacho's point. Um, like

561
00:36:41,693 --> 00:36:45,380
kissing and touching. And I hated, uh, if you've listened to the

562
00:36:45,380 --> 00:36:48,951
audio version, I hated the way the, the audio actor like says her

563
00:36:48,951 --> 00:36:52,762
name during sex and how like that just like lights her up. I fucking hated

564
00:36:52,795 --> 00:36:56,499
it all. It was just, yeah, he's like, oh, Sarah. Sarah.

565
00:36:56,629 --> 00:37:00,446
Sarah. Yeah, it's like, ugh,

566
00:37:01,029 --> 00:37:03,740
gross. Yeah,

567
00:37:04,452 --> 00:37:08,251
gross. Okay. Sorry, I'm bad. No, no,

568
00:37:08,413 --> 00:37:12,050
it just, it wasn't my vibe, bro. Like it just wasn't,

569
00:37:12,616 --> 00:37:15,803
it wasn't my fucking vibe at all. Um,

570
00:37:17,615 --> 00:37:21,094
and I think the other thing, like kind of as, as we get to what

571
00:37:21,094 --> 00:37:24,815
I think is the good part is the whole time Feyre

572
00:37:25,296 --> 00:37:28,854
is learning that there is a sickness in the

573
00:37:28,854 --> 00:37:32,156
lands. Yeah. And so Tamlin has to protect

574
00:37:32,429 --> 00:37:36,180
his Spring Court, uh, from this sickness entering in.

575
00:37:36,276 --> 00:37:40,123
And, you know, at times there are these intruders in the land. And

576
00:37:40,283 --> 00:37:42,752
one of the times that she kind of sees it

577
00:37:43,890 --> 00:37:47,240
is when these heads of fairies

578
00:37:48,474 --> 00:37:52,081
are put on spikes. And I think at like the entrance of the Spring Court.

579
00:37:52,554 --> 00:37:56,100
Yes. And it's revealed then, well, it's

580
00:37:56,100 --> 00:37:59,602
revealed a little later on that the person responsible for putting those faeries'

581
00:37:59,699 --> 00:38:02,104
heads on spikes is Rhysand,

582
00:38:03,669 --> 00:38:07,073
the mysterious dark figure she meets during Fire Night.

583
00:38:08,670 --> 00:38:12,493
And that's when we start to see that Rhysand and Tamlin hate each other. There

584
00:38:12,525 --> 00:38:16,268
is a deep hate. But okay. She doesn't know his name,

585
00:38:17,158 --> 00:38:20,754
but she recognizes the face. He

586
00:38:20,754 --> 00:38:24,362
comes back to the Spring Court

587
00:38:24,763 --> 00:38:28,483
to check up on Tamlin and Tamlin, Lucien, and Feyre

588
00:38:28,531 --> 00:38:32,187
are eating and, ah, bless Lucien.

589
00:38:32,524 --> 00:38:36,292
Love him. Stands in front of Feyre, kind of pushes her against the

590
00:38:36,308 --> 00:38:39,916
wall, but he's standing in front of her. Tamlin glamours her so she's

591
00:38:39,916 --> 00:38:43,604
invisible. Oh yeah. Rhysand comes into the

592
00:38:43,604 --> 00:38:46,266
dining room. That's when we kind of find out that he's the one that put

593
00:38:46,266 --> 00:38:49,942
the fairy heads out front and, uh,

594
00:38:50,327 --> 00:38:53,410
Rhysand's an asshole, so naturally I love him. Um,

595
00:38:54,197 --> 00:38:58,034
cuz he's just like, oh, you didn't like my gift? Thought it was— thought you'd

596
00:38:58,034 --> 00:39:01,326
love it. It's like deadheads on sticks.

597
00:39:01,727 --> 00:39:04,922
Um, when I first imagined

598
00:39:05,757 --> 00:39:09,531
Rhysand in my head, what came up was the

599
00:39:09,531 --> 00:39:13,235
licorice guy from Candyland. I'm gonna

600
00:39:13,317 --> 00:39:17,064
Google this. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

601
00:39:19,134 --> 00:39:21,801
I don't know why, but that's the,

602
00:39:23,054 --> 00:39:25,054
that's the imagery that came into my brain.

603
00:39:27,051 --> 00:39:29,942
That would've ruined the book for me, Nacho, if I pictured

604
00:39:30,232 --> 00:39:33,801
disgusting. I read this after Fourth Wing, so I saw Xaden.

605
00:39:35,048 --> 00:39:37,843
That's who I pictured. I was like, oh, it's Xaden. Yeah, same here.

606
00:39:39,660 --> 00:39:42,560
Mm-hmm. Um, and again, I'm a sucker for dark hair, light eyes. So I was

607
00:39:42,592 --> 00:39:46,298
like, yep, sign me up. Uh, true. Uh, but yeah, he comes

608
00:39:46,298 --> 00:39:49,501
into the dining room, they glamor Feyre, they're hiding her. He's,

609
00:39:50,561 --> 00:39:54,402
I don't remember if he's just there to check in on Tamlin or, or he's

610
00:39:54,402 --> 00:39:58,185
there to say, like, I don't remember the purpose,

611
00:39:58,266 --> 00:40:01,803
but we, we find out that there's another player in place here

612
00:40:02,113 --> 00:40:05,934
that wants Tamlin. To basically bow down and, and

613
00:40:05,966 --> 00:40:09,637
come, like they're coming to get Tamlin essentially. And

614
00:40:09,717 --> 00:40:13,372
Rhysand is the collector. And while they're there, Rhysand's about

615
00:40:13,484 --> 00:40:17,107
to leave and notices, oh wait, there's 3 place settings on this table,

616
00:40:17,652 --> 00:40:20,826
but there's only 2 people here. So he asks and Lucien

617
00:40:21,916 --> 00:40:25,683
takes another stray. He's like, that's— they've

618
00:40:25,683 --> 00:40:29,434
already left. Rhysand figures out— Look at G.

619
00:40:29,530 --> 00:40:33,024
Go ahead, G. So Rhysand can

620
00:40:33,200 --> 00:40:36,805
also like read, read memories and read minds. Yeah. And

621
00:40:36,902 --> 00:40:40,667
so he knew, even though she was glamoured, he

622
00:40:40,667 --> 00:40:44,417
knew she was in there. And so he's like already in her mind.

623
00:40:45,699 --> 00:40:49,144
He, he gets pissed cuz he's like, you fucking glamoured me,

624
00:40:49,160 --> 00:40:52,510
dude. He's like, fuck you. And then he can see Feyre.

625
00:40:53,311 --> 00:40:56,966
Yeah. And he is like, oh, he recognizes her. Uh-huh.

626
00:40:57,239 --> 00:41:01,012
Um, Lucien goes, that's my betrothed. He's like, that's my woman, back

627
00:41:01,092 --> 00:41:04,850
up. Right. And to, to protect Feyre, but really

628
00:41:04,962 --> 00:41:08,799
to protect Tamlin because Tamlin needs Feyre. So no, this

629
00:41:08,799 --> 00:41:12,557
is my girl. Like, don't even pay her any mind. And Rhysand can

630
00:41:12,669 --> 00:41:15,527
go into Feyre's mind cuz that's one of his powers.

631
00:41:16,346 --> 00:41:19,943
Um, and I think he's like hurting,

632
00:41:20,200 --> 00:41:23,942
not hurting her, but like She's frozen still. It fucks

633
00:41:24,151 --> 00:41:27,750
Tamlin up cuz he doesn't want her to be hurt, hurt. And

634
00:41:27,766 --> 00:41:31,301
immediately he's a bitch, right? What does he fucking do? Just

635
00:41:31,301 --> 00:41:34,981
like, just like everybody else in Feyre's life. He like

636
00:41:34,981 --> 00:41:38,420
drops, like Rhysand's like, get on your knees then. Cuz he's like, please don't tell,

637
00:41:39,239 --> 00:41:42,919
um, Amarantha that Feyre is here. Like, please, please, please.

638
00:41:43,353 --> 00:41:47,193
Rhysand's like, cool, beg, you know, beg for it. Immediately Tamlin's

639
00:41:47,193 --> 00:41:50,573
on his knees. begging Rhysand, please, please.

640
00:41:51,721 --> 00:41:55,212
And, um, Rhysand I think asks her at that

641
00:41:55,212 --> 00:41:58,728
point, what's your name? She gives some other

642
00:41:59,017 --> 00:42:02,183
person's name, Claire, some bullshit. I don't know. Yeah. Claire,

643
00:42:02,794 --> 00:42:06,265
her, the, the girl that ended up

644
00:42:06,265 --> 00:42:10,077
sleeping with, um, the guy that she was sleeping

645
00:42:10,109 --> 00:42:13,792
with. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's like, it's Claire Better or

646
00:42:13,792 --> 00:42:17,120
whatever the fuck. And Ray-san's like, all right, works for

647
00:42:17,120 --> 00:42:20,740
me. I think that's where— and, and that's

648
00:42:20,740 --> 00:42:24,380
where the book starts getting really fucked up, right? And like, I

649
00:42:24,380 --> 00:42:27,740
can't say that, that Emma, whatever, I just call her

650
00:42:27,740 --> 00:42:31,560
Amaretto. Amaretto. I love it. Because I can't even say it. May

651
00:42:31,560 --> 00:42:34,260
she be ever known, forever known as

652
00:42:34,260 --> 00:42:37,880
Amaretto. Amaretto.

653
00:42:39,400 --> 00:42:42,880
Oh. Because the more you have of her, the more fucked up you

654
00:42:42,880 --> 00:42:46,258
get. Can I tell you my dad loves Amaretto? Oh, really?

655
00:42:47,158 --> 00:42:50,933
Yeah. Like the drink, not the character? Well, correct. Okay. I was like,

656
00:42:51,078 --> 00:42:54,371
oh, he likes her. Yeah. Yeah. My whole life,

657
00:42:54,692 --> 00:42:58,082
Amaretto. I, I like that little Amaretto di

658
00:42:58,098 --> 00:43:01,921
Serrano, the square. Yeah. I do like

659
00:43:01,921 --> 00:43:05,279
that too though. That is really good. It's so good. It's like, you know, that's

660
00:43:05,311 --> 00:43:08,572
like a treat. Jergens, that Jergens cherry

661
00:43:08,748 --> 00:43:12,058
almond, uh, lotion from like in the

662
00:43:12,283 --> 00:43:15,611
whatever. Uh, that's what it, I imagine

663
00:43:16,227 --> 00:43:20,023
it would taste like. It, it would taste like is amaretto. Can we

664
00:43:20,023 --> 00:43:23,630
give him a bottle of amaretto dressed up like Emma, Emma with a—

665
00:43:23,710 --> 00:43:27,462
Amarantha. Amarantha. Yeah. Can we make a little doll out of it

666
00:43:27,574 --> 00:43:31,163
for him? Yeah. We, you know what? I have enough felt to get this done.

667
00:43:33,909 --> 00:43:37,021
That is my favorite line I've ever heard you say. I have enough felt to

668
00:43:37,021 --> 00:43:39,627
get this done. I have enough felt to get this done. She held up a

669
00:43:39,627 --> 00:43:43,354
finger. She goes, uh-huh. I have enough felt to get this done. Huzzah! I

670
00:43:43,354 --> 00:43:47,202
have enough felt in a rainbow of

671
00:43:47,234 --> 00:43:50,919
colors. I love it. She gets this done. Can we make it a school project?

672
00:43:52,360 --> 00:43:54,642
Yeah. Do we want to like just do it together or do you just want

673
00:43:54,642 --> 00:43:58,267
me to send you pictures? You can send me pictures while I'm fucking

674
00:43:58,380 --> 00:44:01,925
dying of laughter. I'm gonna make it look like the licorice,

675
00:44:03,274 --> 00:44:06,644
the licorice guy from Candyland, but with amaranth all over it. That

676
00:44:07,225 --> 00:44:11,058
would've ruined this. I couldn't. Yeah. That would've ruined

677
00:44:11,155 --> 00:44:13,974
it for me. Um, all right. To the liquor store I go.

678
00:44:16,390 --> 00:44:20,122
I'll, I'll buy the amaretto. You, you, you supply the

679
00:44:20,122 --> 00:44:22,384
felt. Love it.

680
00:44:24,733 --> 00:44:28,423
Um, so yeah, Tamlin's a bitch. He's on his knees. He's begging like, please don't

681
00:44:28,423 --> 00:44:32,014
do this. Rhysand gets this name, Clare. He's like, sweet, good enough. I'm out.

682
00:44:32,531 --> 00:44:36,058
He leaves. Uh, fast forward, Tamlin is now full-on bitch mode.

683
00:44:36,753 --> 00:44:40,446
tells Feyre, you've gotta go. You

684
00:44:40,446 --> 00:44:43,978
can't be here. You're not safe anymore. I can't keep you safe anymore. You have

685
00:44:44,074 --> 00:44:47,849
to leave. Now, my question for you guys

686
00:44:47,946 --> 00:44:51,559
is, do you think in that moment he wants her to leave

687
00:44:51,753 --> 00:44:55,143
because he feels that, like, I can't keep you safe, you've really gotta go? Like,

688
00:44:55,224 --> 00:44:58,538
do you think he's doing that to protect her and take care of her?

689
00:45:01,119 --> 00:45:04,256
I don't know. In his twisted little fucking mind, he is.

690
00:45:05,042 --> 00:45:07,983
Yeah, I think that he thinks he's doing the right thing. I think he's trying

691
00:45:08,015 --> 00:45:11,679
to save him, save himself, because having Feyre there is

692
00:45:11,791 --> 00:45:15,592
just putting a target on his back. So he's trying to protect himself.

693
00:45:15,721 --> 00:45:18,678
I don't think he really ever gave two shits about her,

694
00:45:20,287 --> 00:45:23,948
but it was like his little prize, and now it's time for him to

695
00:45:23,981 --> 00:45:25,610
send his little prize off.

696
00:45:27,778 --> 00:45:30,887
Okay. So. This, um,

697
00:45:31,481 --> 00:45:35,064
curse for the listeners, they're, they are

698
00:45:35,177 --> 00:45:37,442
days away from his deadline.

699
00:45:39,049 --> 00:45:42,282
You have 50 years or whatever the fuck it is. Hmm.

700
00:45:42,994 --> 00:45:45,875
And if you can't get a human to fall in love with you by this

701
00:45:45,923 --> 00:45:49,747
time, you are mine. Amaretto wants

702
00:45:49,747 --> 00:45:53,521
Tamlin. Amaretto. You belong to me. Days away

703
00:45:53,608 --> 00:45:57,224
from that happening, he tells Feyre, you gotta go. I

704
00:45:57,289 --> 00:45:59,359
can't keep you safe anymore. You've gotta go back home.

705
00:46:01,479 --> 00:46:05,151
Uh, they make love, bury Feyre in her neck. It's

706
00:46:05,151 --> 00:46:08,871
fucking gross. Um, and he tells her,

707
00:46:08,904 --> 00:46:12,734
I love you. My favorite part is she's like,

708
00:46:13,449 --> 00:46:16,455
uh, uh, great.

709
00:46:17,773 --> 00:46:21,418
Mm-hmm. She's like, oh, okay. Thanks.

710
00:46:21,985 --> 00:46:25,678
Yeah. And he says it again and again and again. She doesn't respond.

711
00:46:27,661 --> 00:46:31,238
Eventually they tire. Just told her that she had to leave to try to get

712
00:46:31,511 --> 00:46:35,169
it out of her. Yes. So that he could have— Fucking do. That's my

713
00:46:35,378 --> 00:46:38,570
theory. I was like, yo, damn, fuck you. You ain't trying to keep her safe.

714
00:46:38,667 --> 00:46:42,357
You're like, oh, distance makes the heart grow fonder. I'm gonna say, oh, I

715
00:46:42,357 --> 00:46:45,309
gotta protect you. You have to leave. You can't see me anymore. I don't know

716
00:46:45,325 --> 00:46:48,357
when you're gonna be able to see me again. Knowing all the well that if

717
00:46:48,357 --> 00:46:51,919
she was to leave and it all worked out fine, it's game over.

718
00:46:52,143 --> 00:46:54,999
It's game over for him. But he's like, no, you gotta go. I love you.

719
00:46:55,737 --> 00:46:59,171
And like waiting. She doesn't say it back. They eventually tire of having

720
00:46:59,203 --> 00:47:02,316
sex. The morning comes, she's gotta go.

721
00:47:03,055 --> 00:47:06,890
He's got her going down into the carriage again. Lucien

722
00:47:06,890 --> 00:47:10,388
at that point's like, what the fuck? You're so close. Why are you letting her

723
00:47:10,436 --> 00:47:14,175
leave? Lucien's like, just give her a couple more days. 'Cause Lucien

724
00:47:14,287 --> 00:47:17,304
knows she's so close to saying it back. Why would you say goodbye? And that's

725
00:47:17,320 --> 00:47:21,139
the thing too, is like Lucien has been pushing and supporting

726
00:47:21,187 --> 00:47:24,736
and catering. to Tamlin to

727
00:47:24,736 --> 00:47:28,561
like encourage him to spend time with Feyre, to be kind

728
00:47:28,561 --> 00:47:32,080
to Feyre, to love on Feyre, to be sweet to Feyre.

729
00:47:32,658 --> 00:47:36,145
And Tamlin's just like a complete— Okay.

730
00:47:37,157 --> 00:47:40,516
You should compliment her. All right, let me do that. Yeah. You should go on

731
00:47:40,612 --> 00:47:43,440
a walk with her. All right, I guess I'll do that too. Like, yeah, 100%.

732
00:47:43,505 --> 00:47:46,670
100%. So she's in the carriage.

733
00:47:48,502 --> 00:47:51,055
Lucien's trying to get him to keep her for a couple more days cuz they're

734
00:47:51,071 --> 00:47:54,876
so close. Cuz if, if the curse breaks, mind you, they're all

735
00:47:55,005 --> 00:47:58,537
free. Everybody that belongs to the Spring Court is free from this

736
00:47:58,537 --> 00:48:01,716
curse. All they need is for her to fall in love with him. Is everybody

737
00:48:01,733 --> 00:48:05,217
everybody? Uh, maybe cuz,

738
00:48:05,506 --> 00:48:09,279
cuz Amaretto wouldn't go away. He

739
00:48:09,279 --> 00:48:12,876
would just be free. No, you're right. Spring Court. Hopefully we'll have listeners

740
00:48:13,052 --> 00:48:15,635
tell us. Hey, leave a comment.

741
00:48:16,677 --> 00:48:20,412
I'm just saying, like, how do we— yeah, I wanna, I wanna

742
00:48:20,428 --> 00:48:23,089
investigate how we can do that too, because I'm sure there will have lots of

743
00:48:23,089 --> 00:48:26,760
people to be like, y'all are fucking weird and gross. But also,

744
00:48:27,177 --> 00:48:28,940
I feel like there are going to be plenty of people that are gonna be

745
00:48:28,940 --> 00:48:32,467
like, you're wrong. Yeah, I want to hear what, like,

746
00:48:32,643 --> 00:48:36,378
our listeners have to say. But like, like, the

747
00:48:36,378 --> 00:48:39,889
whole Tamlin, Lucien, Rhysand

748
00:48:40,550 --> 00:48:42,504
And Amaretto, um,

749
00:48:44,748 --> 00:48:47,348
dynamics are so fucked up in this book.

750
00:48:48,317 --> 00:48:51,555
So fucked up. Like, my Spidey sense,

751
00:48:53,053 --> 00:48:55,887
my, my Spidey sense is like, girl,

752
00:48:56,773 --> 00:48:59,519
the boy don't fucking love you, okay? Like,

753
00:49:00,410 --> 00:49:04,087
go do your own thing. Go find something

754
00:49:04,200 --> 00:49:07,768
else that you can fuck. I mean, I Do they even have

755
00:49:07,817 --> 00:49:11,579
like vibrators back in that age? I don't know. I mean, her

756
00:49:11,661 --> 00:49:13,208
dad can whittle one out of wood.

757
00:49:16,007 --> 00:49:19,459
I don't think I'd want that in my cooter, okay? That's splinters, okay?

758
00:49:24,116 --> 00:49:27,880
I can't see down there. Can you help me? I know, right? I need a

759
00:49:27,928 --> 00:49:31,708
series of mirrors and a couple of extra hands. You're in like— I

760
00:49:31,708 --> 00:49:35,170
just pictured one of those Mirror mazes, and you're yes, yes.

761
00:49:35,720 --> 00:49:39,100
I'm like exactly. I think I got it. Wait, where's

762
00:49:39,100 --> 00:49:42,780
my tweezers? Oh wait, you know I can't handle my own

763
00:49:42,780 --> 00:49:46,480
tweezers. I gotta have somebody else help me. I'm gonna need extra people. It's like

764
00:49:46,480 --> 00:49:50,180
you're gonna have to make it a family affair or something. And the

765
00:49:50,180 --> 00:49:53,460
next thing you know, you're fucking bald because you haven't even gotten the

766
00:49:53,460 --> 00:49:55,860
tick. Oh

767
00:49:55,860 --> 00:49:59,620
my god, we're going to have a tick, but

768
00:49:59,620 --> 00:50:01,080
fully bald now.

769
00:50:04,112 --> 00:50:07,560
Man. So on. So,

770
00:50:07,898 --> 00:50:11,552
um, fuck, where did we leave off? Hey, what's up? Oh, oh, she's leaving.

771
00:50:11,649 --> 00:50:14,725
She's in the fucking carriage and he tells her again, I love you.

772
00:50:15,923 --> 00:50:18,837
And she's close. It's on the tip of her tongue, but she don't fucking say

773
00:50:18,853 --> 00:50:22,448
it. She goes back home. That's when like one of the

774
00:50:22,448 --> 00:50:25,252
most interesting for Nesta,

775
00:50:26,467 --> 00:50:30,140
in my opinion, occurs. She goes back home. She now sees that her

776
00:50:30,140 --> 00:50:33,932
family has lived a very wealthy life. They're in the beautiful home. They're no longer

777
00:50:33,932 --> 00:50:36,952
in the cottage. He has been taking care of her family this whole time. They

778
00:50:36,952 --> 00:50:39,600
have food. They have luxuries. They're, I mean,

779
00:50:40,263 --> 00:50:43,577
perfect, perfect life. She comes home.

780
00:50:45,436 --> 00:50:49,166
Elaine, the dad, or the dad's out of town, so it's Elaine or

781
00:50:49,166 --> 00:50:53,003
something like that, and Nesta, and they're like, oh my God,

782
00:50:53,052 --> 00:50:56,839
you're home. Oh, the aunt died so that she hadn't been taken care of

783
00:50:56,839 --> 00:51:00,680
or whatever the fuck. There's this whole story. Yeah. And Feyre was going along with

784
00:51:00,680 --> 00:51:04,077
it only for us to find out that

785
00:51:04,077 --> 00:51:07,812
Nesta was never glamoured. Nesta

786
00:51:08,104 --> 00:51:11,433
always remembered that Feyre had been taken by this beast.

787
00:51:12,876 --> 00:51:15,709
And what do we learn? We learn that fucking Nesta

788
00:51:16,518 --> 00:51:20,128
goes back to the village to find that mercenary person that

789
00:51:20,144 --> 00:51:23,762
bought the wolf pelt. to hire her, to

790
00:51:23,762 --> 00:51:27,002
take her across the wall to search for Feyre.

791
00:51:28,899 --> 00:51:30,735
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

792
00:51:32,926 --> 00:51:35,504
But anyway, anyways, like,

793
00:51:36,487 --> 00:51:39,885
she is a fucking little bitch, right? Like,

794
00:51:40,256 --> 00:51:43,735
yeah, she's a little bitch to Feyre, right? And she's like,

795
00:51:44,766 --> 00:51:48,570
um, but now she's all glamoured up, right? She's not in like the

796
00:51:48,570 --> 00:51:51,134
scraggly fucked up clothes she was in before Feyre left.

797
00:51:53,214 --> 00:51:55,447
And like, she doesn't have, um,

798
00:51:57,178 --> 00:52:00,236
she's not very, uh, what's that word I'm looking for?

799
00:52:01,350 --> 00:52:04,986
Appreciative of what they have now versus what they had

800
00:52:05,810 --> 00:52:09,430
prior, prior to Feyre being carted off to the

801
00:52:09,430 --> 00:52:13,058
Spring Court. Do you think it's 'cause she knows

802
00:52:13,574 --> 00:52:16,710
where it's coming from? Maybe.

803
00:52:18,458 --> 00:52:22,255
Maybe, but it gets even more fucked up

804
00:52:22,255 --> 00:52:25,732
as, as we read the book because of shit that Amaretto

805
00:52:25,732 --> 00:52:28,249
does and things like that.

806
00:52:30,454 --> 00:52:33,459
Sorry. Yeah. I like that she didn't marry that guy that Farrah told her in

807
00:52:33,459 --> 00:52:37,255
those last few minutes. Don't marry so-and-so, he beats his wife or whatever. Yeah.

808
00:52:37,659 --> 00:52:41,263
Nessa listened. I thought that was

809
00:52:41,295 --> 00:52:44,462
interesting. I'm like, dang, she not only listened, but then she actually went to try

810
00:52:44,462 --> 00:52:48,186
to find her. Mm-hmm. She knew. Yeah. Like she

811
00:52:48,186 --> 00:52:50,664
had some sort of conscience or

812
00:52:51,773 --> 00:52:55,409
whatever. Yeah. Or maybe it was just to rub her fucking face

813
00:52:55,522 --> 00:52:58,993
in it. It's the, the interesting dynamic

814
00:52:59,202 --> 00:53:02,825
of her once she, once she got back to the house, right?

815
00:53:02,987 --> 00:53:06,595
And seeing all this beauty and, you know, Elaine out there in her

816
00:53:06,888 --> 00:53:10,554
motherfucking garden, like just

817
00:53:10,554 --> 00:53:14,018
living her best life in these beautiful dresses and then like the, A big

818
00:53:14,082 --> 00:53:17,576
party that her dad had, right? Welcoming

819
00:53:17,832 --> 00:53:21,678
Pharaoh home. Yeah. Did you guys find it interesting that like her crippled dad

820
00:53:21,678 --> 00:53:25,444
all of a sudden was like out and about walking around? Yeah. Yeah. He's like,

821
00:53:25,460 --> 00:53:28,697
fuck that guy. I got money now. I got money around. I'm gonna go fucking

822
00:53:28,809 --> 00:53:32,431
spend it like it's the last thing on earth. I don't fucking care. We're

823
00:53:32,431 --> 00:53:35,668
so rich. We know we have 3 times what we had before. Blah, blah, blah,

824
00:53:35,796 --> 00:53:39,370
blah, blah. Yeah. I, I did like you listening cuz I'm starting to get

825
00:53:39,643 --> 00:53:43,363
Fucking spicy about him. I, I

826
00:53:43,732 --> 00:53:47,469
did like the conversations that Feyre and Nesta had in this

827
00:53:47,661 --> 00:53:51,398
book after she got back. I, I liked,

828
00:53:51,414 --> 00:53:55,038
yeah, I liked that Nesta was like, fuck our dad. He

829
00:53:55,038 --> 00:53:58,069
never, like, our mom was sick and he could have sailed. They had money. He

830
00:53:58,069 --> 00:54:00,764
could have sailed to find her a cure and he didn't. He let her die.

831
00:54:00,892 --> 00:54:04,340
And so then you start to see like, oh, she really hates her

832
00:54:04,340 --> 00:54:08,063
dad. Yeah. Yeah. And, and in that

833
00:54:08,175 --> 00:54:11,705
conversation, I think it— sorry, side note, Feyre,

834
00:54:12,428 --> 00:54:16,215
Nesta says, tell me everything, cuz I was never glamoured. Feyre does. She tells her

835
00:54:16,215 --> 00:54:19,151
everything. Tells her about Tamlin, tells her about Lucien, tells her about the whole thing.

836
00:54:19,841 --> 00:54:22,521
So in that conversation of like the dad and the mom and

837
00:54:23,741 --> 00:54:27,287
her hate for it, I think is when, when Feyre understands a little bit more

838
00:54:27,287 --> 00:54:30,786
about Nesta and Nesta kind of inspires

839
00:54:30,962 --> 00:54:34,746
Feyre to go back. And to fight for her man. 'Cause Feyre realizes

840
00:54:34,746 --> 00:54:38,577
at that point, oh, I do love him. I should have said it. And

841
00:54:38,577 --> 00:54:42,103
like, he could be in trouble now. I need to go back. Yeah. But if

842
00:54:42,103 --> 00:54:44,748
you did that, then we wouldn't have 5 books later.

843
00:54:45,822 --> 00:54:49,412
Sorry. If she would've said it in that moment, curse broken.

844
00:54:49,877 --> 00:54:53,019
Yeah. Curse broken. Tiny books. That would've

845
00:54:53,019 --> 00:54:56,577
sucked. Thank you, Sarah J. Maas. This is the part where I

846
00:54:56,689 --> 00:54:59,911
got hooked into the book is when I realized she's going back.

847
00:55:01,610 --> 00:55:02,450
That's when it got good.
